Too Faced Metal Eyed Liquid Eyeliners - Thoughts and Swatches...

Too Faced Metal Eyed Liquid Eyeliners - Thoughts and Swatches

In the spirit of the holidays and all the glitz and glamor of the season, I decided to do a review of the Too Faced Metal Eyed Liquid Eyeliner. These are shimmery liquid eyeliners rather than the regular run-of-the-mill glitter eyeliners on the market.

A long-lasting, non-smudging, multi-dimensional liquid liner.

Metal Eyed Liquid Shimmer Eyeliner is formulated to deliver the dramatic definition of liquid metal with one easy swipe. This unique water-based formula has intense color payoff and light-reflective properties that create a maximum shimmer and make eyes pop. The precise micro-brush ensures the perfect amount of product is dispersed for a clean, professional-looking application.

Line your lids with the intensity and glamour of liquid metal. These long-lasting, non-smudging, multi-dimensional liquid liners come in eight shimmering shades. Our Metal-Eyed formula is quick drying, easy to apply and will never flake or fade.

  • Intense Pigment Pay Off: Pigment drenched liner with the look of liquid metal and maximum shimmer. Gentle to the eye area.
  • Smudge Proof & Long Wearing: Never flakes or looks messy...just perfectly glamorous.
  • Fast Drying: One, two, thr...Wow that dry time was super fast!
  • Easy Application: Precision micro-brush applies the perfect amount of product for a clean, professional looking application.
  • Carrot Extract: Rich in pro-vitamin A to soothe and protect the eye area.
  • Peach and Cucumber Extract: Helps to moisturize and firm the eye area while cooling and calming too!

My Four Ps

Price
These liquid eyeliners are priced at $17.50 for 0.14 oz which is a bit on the expensive side when compared to Urban Decay Liquid Liners and Heavy Metal Glitter Liners which retail for $18 for 0.25 oz. But when matched up against MAC Superslick Liquid Eye Liners ($17.50 for 0.08 oz) and MAC Liquid Eye Liners ($16.50 for 0.084 oz) then these are a real bargain!

Most liquid liners (including NARS, Benefit, Kat Von D) retail for $16 - $30 and hold 0.02oz to 0.08 oz. So with all that in mind these liquid liners are well worth the price for the amount of product you get....bear in mind that Urban Decay is probably the best bang for your buck out of all higher end liquid liners.

Packaging
The Too Faced Metal Eyed Liquid Liners are housed in a tapered round plastic tube with a very thin applicator brush. The package is sleek and sturdy and the applicator is definitely a great fit for the product.

The brush applicator is thin and medium length so it allows for easy application with just the right amount of control. The brush is thin enough to create anywhere from a fine line to your desired thickness. The stopper on the tube is perfect for avoiding clumps and excess waste of product.

Product
The Too Faced Metal Eyed Liquid Liners are not glitter liners! Instead the liners are ultra fine shimmer in a creamy liquid base. I think these are great for those of us that shy away from bold in-your-face glitter but still want that added sparkle for fun looks.

None of these color descriptions truly do these liners justice!
 Handcuffs - Metallic Steel
This a gorgeous shimmery silver reminiscent of tin foil

Shot Gun - Gun Metal
This is a beautiful dark gun metal silver

 Brown Sugar - Golden Brown
This is a true bronze color with golden caramel shimmer

 Dirt Bag - Red Brown
This is the stand out color for me. It is a gorgeous brown with bright pink, green and gold iridescent shimmer

 Twilight - Sapphire Spark
This is also a fantastic blue color with green and purple sparkle

Plum Crazy - Vivid Amethyst
This is a fun violet color with pink and purple sparkle

Performance
The liners apply well with great pigmentation in one swipe but are better when applied in layers. The liners also stay put without flaking (which is a problem with some glitter liners) or smudging. These are great for a subtle shimmery look without being overwhelming. The shimmer is ultra fine and there are multiple reflects in each liner which adds to the beauty of these liners.

I must note though that although they claim to be fast drying I found that it took about a minute to dry when applied in thicker layers. Also, I had stinging with these along my lashline. Some of you may have the same issue as I do with stinging from liquid products....even wet pigments (just using plain old water) sting my skin when applied. Am I weird? Do you ever experience this? The sting does not last very long though, thankfully, and stops after about 30 seconds.

Overall

These babies are gorgeous for everyday wear without being over-the-top with glitter chunks. They are fun and playful and really easy to use. If you are into shimmer or glitter for your eyes, check these out!
