The Box

The box is a metallic gold padded chest with a ‘pleather’ feel. It opens up to 4 different levels, each housing the different products. The box is a tad bulky and tricky to work with. You have to be very careful or the drawers will surprise you by popping out.

***********************************
Level 1 – Shimmer Eyeshadows

This level contains the 16 shimmery shades and they open up into two wings to reveal the matte shades underneath. These are creamy and nicely pigmented with good color payoff. They can also be sheered out pretty easily. There is a nice selection of colors here both neutral and colorful.

Level 2 – Matte Eyeshadows

The 2nd level houses the matte eyeshadows. They are smooth and creamy as well and blend perfectly – no chalky mattes here. These are both neutral and colorful shades here and they are fab.

Level 3 – Bronzer, Highlighter and Lipglosses

The lipglosses are very sheer and semi-sticky and have a chemical plastic smell to them...not my faves at all. They have decent wear, non-sticky, moisturizing but nothing too impressive here.

The bronzer is a full-size of version of Tarte's bestselling bronzer - Park Avenue Princess Mineral Powder Bronzer. This bronzer is a winner for me and can be used as a great warm golden highlighter for darker skin. The highlighter is very light and shimmery and not the best for darker skin. They both go on beautifully in one sweep and add a pretty glow to the skin. Be careful with these because you can be fooled into adding too much.

Level 4 – Eyeliners

There are five eyeliners on the final level and they are all dark shimmery colors. They a soft and apply smoothly but I can't swear for the length of wear. They are touted as long wearing but I found that they are somewhat smudgy.

Overall

This is a great purchase and a great investment. This is great for travel since it contains most of what you would need. The package may need a little work but not difficult to work around. I am very happy with this kit and will get many uses out of it.

TWO THUMBS UP!

Comparison
Let me add this little comparison to last year's Tarte Treasure Chest (Holiday 2009) since I know it will be asked. The two sets are great stand alone kits but when compared I would say the 2009 will edge out the 2010 just a bit. The 2009 kit contained 4 beautiful blushes in addition to the bronzer and highlighter. There are also 16 lipglosses in the 2009 kit versus 8 in the 2010 kit. The 5 eyeliner pencils that are a part of the 2010 kit but not included in the 2009 are not enough to to outweigh the loss of 8 lipglosses and 4 blushes as far as I am concerned. The eyeshadows are different in both sets but are similar enough to skip one of the kits. But for 32 new eyeshadows I don't think $52 is a bad investment either. Up to you really...LOL!
