MAC Haute & Naughty Lash Mascara - Photos and Thoughts...

MAC Haute & Naughty Lash Mascara - Photos and Thoughts...

The MAC Haute and Naughty Lash Mascara has debuted on both the MAC and MAC Pro websites as well as Nordstrom's website. The mascara won't be available in store until August for Nordstrom and September for the MAC locations.

I had already tested this mascara through a Consumer Evaluation Center - just a company that does consumer testing and provides feedback to the companies through questionnaires. We had no clue what the mascara was until the end of the study. When I learned it was a future MAC mascara I was super excited because I HAD TO HAVE IT!

From MAC...
A two-in-one mascara that lets you choose if you want lashes to be naturally defined, or instantly combed and loaded for full-on drama. Easy to use dual-wiper system allows this lightweight formula to go on either way. One wiper refines the application for a clean sweep, while the other loads the lashes for greater impact.

My Four Ps -

Price
As you may notice, it's MAC's most expensive mascara at $18. MAC mascara usually range from $13-$14 in price with about 8g/9g of product. So you seem to be paying a $4 more for the specialized packaging. Other high end brands are pricier - MUFE Smokey Lash is $22 for 0.23oz, Dior Diorshow is $24 for 0.38oz. MAC Haute and Naughty Lash Mascara falls in the range of Too Faced Lash Injection which is $19.50 for 0.45oz and Urban Decay Big Fatty Mascara which is $20 for 0.65oz.

I'm not mad at MAC at all for this higher price simply because it's worth it this time around.

Packaging
This is the most intriguing part of the MAC Haute and Naughty Lash Mascara. In fact it makes the mascara what it is. So the mascara tube comes with two caps - pink and purple. When you remove the first cap (pink) the mascara brush will be pulled through the tube extension of the second cap (purple). This will remove most of the product and leave you with a clean brush for separating and lengthening lashes. When you remove the second cap (purple) which by default removes the first cap too, you pull the brush through the mascara tube as with a regular mascara. This way you get full on product and volume to your lashes. this works very well when used properly.

A picture is worth a thousand words so here are some pics...

Product
The product itself is full on black. One of the blackest mascaras I have run into and I love that. No greyish tinge here. It's great for volume and length without weighing lashes down.

Performance
The real test is how this mascara measures up. As I mentioned I tested this mascara before and using it now I am still very happy. The second cap builds volume like no other but warning it can be a bit clumpy. The product does what it says though and adds drama to the lashes. Intense drama! Do not use if you want a natural look at all.

TIP 1: Use the second cap first for volume THEN use the first cap to separate lashes and remove clumps while providing length. If you do the reverse I promise there will be clumping.

TIP 2: When you remove the second cap brush there will also be some excess product on the tip that requires wiping off of the sides of the tube to avoid wastage and a big mess.

TIP 3: Allow time for the mascara to dry. it doesn't dry as quickly as other mascaras do.

Overall
I'm all over this mascara! But keep the tips in mind to avoid any issues with the mascara. the key is to use the mascara properly. Don't blame the product but rather the application process which takes some adjusting to.
This is now my holy grail in mascara. Definitely recommend (with TIPS of course!)

  4. Do you have any recommendations of eyelash curlers? I just bought this mascara and my lashes look great but I think curling them would take it to the next level!:)

  5. Hey Neecey. The best eyelash curler I've used is from Shu Uemura. It's a by pricey but it's a great investment versus buying cheaper ones and replacing them every couple of months. I've had mine for two years with no issues.
