MAC Chromagraphic Pencils - Thoughts...

MAC Chromagraphic Pencils - Thoughts...

These pencils are a part of a MAC PRO Collection which means they are only available at MAC PRO Stores and on the MAC PRO Website only. Remember of course that you can always call in an order via the 800 number (1-800-866-6464).

From MAC:

Draw on your creativity. The fundamental tool of body art, this pencil's soft, smooth new formula is destined to enhance and invigorate your art. Sketch, outline, doodle, blend - with eight key shades, these are the real score.

A creamy, soft-point pencil ideal for use as a liner, or to outline and define designs. Provides a bold, intensely smooth application with a well-defined, pigment-rich line.

Price: US$14.50, Net Wt.1.36g/0.048 US Oz

These pencils have been long awaited since the beginning of the year but first I encountered these at the Makeup Show in NYC.

They are a follow up to the existing MAC Chromalines which are waterproof colored gel/cream liners. So they are available in the same colors and names as the MAC Chromalines. The colors are basic and include red, yellow, blue, green, purple, orange, white, black. They also threw in the PRO colors Blue Cyan and Process Magenta along with the Nude Story concealer/foundation colors NC15/NW20, NW25/NC30 and NC42/NW35.

These pencils are not meant to be waterproof and are not declared as such. They smudge easily and wear very well but will not stay on the waterline. They do however have good wearing power on the lashline. I love the bright array of colors and the ease of use of the pencil form. They pack a lot of pigment in a couple of swipes. The yellow is the only bothersome one I encountered but it still had decent color payoff.

Overall, if you have been looking for fun colored eye pencils you will love these....but don't expect them to be waterproof like the chromalines.

I got:

Pure White - Whitest white
Landscape Green - Lush bright green
Genuine Orange - Bright orange
Primary Yellow - Bright clean yellow
Hi-Def Cyan - Cyan blue
Process Magenta - Matte magenta

I didn't get the Marine Ultra (Blue), Black Black (black) or Rich Purple (dense purple) because these were not unique/standout colors for me and they can easily be duped. Basic Red (Primary red) would be a good one to get but it is of course not eye safe.

'White Before Memorial Day' - Work Outfit

'White Before Memorial Day' - Work Outfit

So since I'm in training all week and my makeup is minimal to non-existent...I'm sharing another work outfit of the day.

Now who says we can't wear white before Memorial Day or after Labor Day? Well they are the boss of me. You all know I don't follow rules in makeup or fashion so white is a go for me! Whenever! LOL!

I'm wearing a multi-color short sleeve banded waist top (white, blue, green, purple, pink and black...I smell a look coming on). It has a pleated front and straight back and is from JCPenny. This is paired with white boot legged cotton pants from New York and Company. The shoes are white and cork wedge strappy sandals from years ago.

This is another work outfit. I'm wearing a white button down short sleeve shirt with a built-in belt. It's paired with tan slacks and matching tan shoes. Shoes are 4 inch semi platform with open toes and ankle strap from Love My Shoes.

MAC Superglass - Thoughts...

MAC Superglass - Thoughts...

I've had two of these MAC Superglasses for a while now and I wanted to share my thoughts.

According to MAC Cosmetics:

Shattered, decimated, blinded by a fantastic, intergalactic lip light! Lips have gone big bang, explosively dimensional, a rare eclipse. Extreme innovation that's a good reflection on M·A·C...and the seductress lucky enough to strike upon it.

Superglasscolon Superglass
A lip gloss blended with small, medium and large pearls to create three distinct dimensions of jewel-like flash and overwhelming dazzle. Provides sheer medium coverage. Adds sexy shine and lustre to the lips. Helps lips stay smooth and hydrated. Features M∙A∙C’s vanilla flavour. Limited edition.

My Four P's...

Price
The price of a Superglass is $18 is in line with Dazzleglass, Dazzleglass Creme, Cremesheen Glass and Plushglass. These are all $3.50 more than the traditional Lipglass. The price is as to be expected but the key point for me the the size.

The Superglass is 0.15oz versus 0.6oz for the comparable Dazzleglass. This has long been a point of contention for me...and is the reason I do not own a Dazzleglass. The Superglass is more than twice the amount for the same price. It even beats out the Dazzleglass Creme and Cremesheen Glass (0.9 and 0.8oz). Much much better deal here!

Packaging
The Superglass comes in a non-traditional hexagonal tube rather than the usual cylindrical tubes of the other Glasses. It is about the same length of a Dazzleglass, Dazzleglass Creme or Cremesheen Glass tube. They come with a brush applicator rather than a doe foot applicator (same as the Dazzleglass). This applicator is preferred for thicker or glitter packed glosses.

Product
The product itself is a thick gloss infused with tons of glitter. The glitter ranges from small to medium to large without being chunky. It is thicker to help the glitter adhere better to the lips and inherently makes the gloss longer wearing.

The color payoff is light to medium coverage and goes on (as opaque as it gets) in about two layers. The Superglass is not meant to be worn alone on the lips but rather over lipstick or maybe even a lipstain so the light coverage was anticipated.

Performance
Now how does it measure up?
The Superglass looks fabulous over lipstick and adds shine and dazzle to your lips. The glitter is not that noticeable from far away but trust me you will see the shine! Upclose it's more noticeable but it's not like you will see huge chucky glitter all over your lips.

They layer easily for me over lipstick and just add a slight change of color but a bang of shine. The gloss is sticky and you will feel it but I didn't find them to be googie at all. They wear very well and helped my lipstick stay on longer (good wear up to 5 hours). They feel fine to me...I didn't actually feel the glitter when I rubbed my lips together but as it wears off you may feel it a little bit more.

My only trouble with these was removal. The glitter will stay on! Simply wiping these off on a napkin will not work. You will need to wash these off or use a makeup remover/wipe. Not the best for touch-ups throughout the day. But I knew to expect that....all glitter products are a pain to remove.

Overall
If you are in search of a glitter lipgloss...these are fabulous! Worth the money and will give you a great result. I really like them.

The two I have are Totally Bang! and Fab Frenzy...of course I got one with the exclamation point in the name! LOL! I will add some more swatches tonight when I get home...but you can see them in action here...

The Makeup Show NYC

The Makeup Show NYC

I previously mentioned The Makeup Show NYC 2010 which I attended on Sunday with my girl Jen (hey Jen!)

There was a huge turn out and lovely ladies (and gents) all packed into the Metropolitan Pavilion in NYC. This was my first time going to the show and I was not overly impressed.

There were a good number of companies there with the biggest booths being Make Up For Ever, MAC, Inglot and Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics. There were also some new start-up brands and smaller companies around.

I didn't watch any of the demos since I was there for makeup! So I can't say who was there or how fabulous they were.

The Make Up For Ever and Inglot booths were obvious crowd favorites and had non-stop crowds. The MAC booth was a fiasco because their computer system was down and no one was able to buy any products. Boooo!

But anyway...what did I get???

I got:
  • OCC Lip Tars and a couple loose eyeshadows
  • Inglot Gel Eyeliners, eyeshadows, lipgloss and lip pencils
  • Stila Skin Corrector, eyeliner pencils and liquid liner
  • Naked Cosmetics loose eyeshadows
  • Model in a Bottle Setting Spray
  • Eve Pearl Concealer
  • Ricky's Eyelashes

I didn't get too much because a lot of the products were being sold at retail price. What was the benefit of that? I will be posting swatches and reviews of a few of these products in the upcoming weeks as I try them out....we'll see how that goes!

SHOUT OUT to two beautiful ladies that I met (in person) at the show....TYSH and AMY!
Tysh you are fab girl! Your makeup was to die for!!! You are so beautiful!
Pretty girl Amy say hi to your boyfriend for me : ). Super cute!

And special mention to fabulous Keisha...my boyfriend's college friend who I also met (the night before)! Holla girl!

Fancy Lashes from The Makeup Show in NYC

Fancy Lashes from The Makeup Show in NYC

As you all may know (or not) The Makeup Show in NYC was this past Sunday and continuing today. I got these fab eyelashes from the show that are available at Ricky's NYC. These lashes are definitely not for everyday wear but rather adds DRAMA to a creative look. The lash bands are thick as can be expected with extreme lashes since they require extra support (they can get heavy). These are much trickier to apply than natural invisible band eyelashes so get ready to work if you go for any type of extreme lashes. Just wanted to share!
