The Lime Crime Chinadoll Pressed Eyeshadow Palette is priced at $34.99 for 5 x 1.3g of product.

Lime Crime, in my eyes, is considered an indie brand - meaning it is not mainstream brand and is not available in department stores or beauty/cosmetics retail stores (think Macys, Nordstrom, Sephora, Ulta and the like). But they have made their mark on the beauty world with their vivid bright loose eyeshadows and intense lipsticks in rainbow colors. Now I must note that there has been quite a little controversy regarding Lime Crime and their business practices and such (I avoided them for years due to this) - read more HERE.

Why all that spiel? Well...the price of this palette verges on that of mid-high-end brands while the amount of product is on the low side. This always throws me off a bit - when indie throw on mid-high-end prices on their products but don't have the reputation to back it up especially with a reputation such as Lime Crime. From what I know this Lime Crime's first permanent pressed eyeshadow palette so I would expect a lower price or at least much more product for the price (ala Sugarpill which has similar priced palettes but with more than twice the amount of product).

But alas, it's priced the way it is with the amount of product is comes with and there's nothing we can do about that. Take it or leave it I suppose. It IS pricey considering the brand and the quantity but the colors are bold and fun and the quality is good. I happen to love brights so I still went ahead and purchased this palette but still didn't have the warmest fuzzy feeling when I hit PAY NOW.

Lime Crime, in my eyes, is considered an indie brand - meaning it is not mainstream brand and is not available in department stores or beauty/cosmetics retail stores (think Macys, Nordstrom, Sephora, Ulta and the like). However, you can find them in some local beauty stores both in the US and internationally - find locations HERE.

Or, like most of us beauty lovers who live for online shopping, you can purchase directly from their website - www.limecrimemakeup.com. They offer worldwide shipping as well so international readers need not fear! :)

The Lime Crime Chinadoll Pressed Eyeshadow Palette comes in a bold purple colored hinged metal case embossed with gold detailing and Lime Crime logo. The palette itself comes sealed in a fun gold envelope which definitely adds to the overall esthetic of the packaging. The back label has the product details (color coded eyeshadow names and size) and company information.

The eyeshadows are embossed with a fun pattern and protected by a clear plastic sheet insert. The eyeshadows pans are secured in a shiny black plastic backing inside the case. There is no mirror inside the palette which doesn't bother me but is something to note. There are also no applicators or extra fan-dangles included in the palette but I did receive a sample size of the Lime Crime Candy Eyed Eyeshadow Helper Primer.

The metal case is very sturdy and great for travel. It is neither flimsy or cheap looking/feeling as is the case for some lesser known brands.

The Lime Crime Chinadoll Pressed Eyeshadow Palette is "a fantasy collection of 5 pressed eyeshadows inspired by the beauty of China. Superior coverage, creamy texture ranging from matte to metallic finish, and superb blendability. Palette arrives encased in a deluxe purple tin".

TEXTURE
The Lime Crime Chinadoll Pressed Eyeshadow Palette features 4 matte shades and 1 frost shade. All 5 of the shades are extremely smooth and creamy without being powdery (a problem found mostly with mattes). I was quite impressed with the smoothness of these eyeshadows while at the same they did not fall victim to being overly-soft and crumbly.

FINISH
The Lime Crime Chinadoll Pressed Eyeshadow Palette features 4 matte shades and 1 frost shade. The mattes are creamy and not patchy and dry which is a great plus for this type of finish. The frost shade is quite subtle in sheen - there is no high shine frostiness here.

PIGMENTATION
All 5 shades in the Lime Crime Chinadoll Pressed Eyeshadow Palette have decent to high color payoff. The single frost shade is highly pigmented in one swipe but can be sheered out for a subtle wash of color. Three of the four matte shades also have great color payoff and are highly pigmented in one-to-two swipes. The black shade is the only troublesome one of the bunch since it requires layering to get full color payoff.

COLORS
The Lime Crime Chinadoll Pressed Eyeshadow Palette comes with 4 vivid bright shades and a black shade. There are no neutral colors here and the palette is definitely not for the tame of heart. The colors are an unusual combo that I haven't seen put together in a single palette but can work surprisingly well together to create colorful looks. There is a matte red and pale sky blue included in this palette which are not only hard colors to find in other brands but also very hard colors to get right - and they got it right here.

APPLICATION
The 5 shades in the Lime Crime Chinadoll Pressed Eyeshadow Palette apply very well to the skin without primer but do much better when used with a eyeshadow primer (the Lime Crime Candy Eyed Eyeshadow Helper Primer comes in handy here).

The matte shades, except for the black, apply evenly without leaving patchy areas on the skin. They can be packed on for more color payoff or sheered out (only slightly though) for a wash of color. There is minimal fallout when used with a dense eyeshadow brush and eyeshadow primer. The black shade needs a bit more help to get full color payoff but works well to add depth to any of the shades or to deepen the crease area. The frost shade also applies very well without skipping. All the colors blend nicely on the skin and with each other as well as other eyeshadows.

WEAR
The colors in the Lime Crime Chinadoll Pressed Eyeshadow Palette wear decently for 5+ hours before the colors start to fade in intensity. When used with a primer/base the wear is certainly prolonged a couple of hours. The red, teal and black shade can leave behind some staining so I do recommend using a primer and/or base with these colors to minimize the color staining.

VEGAN & CRUELTY FREE
These are touted as vegan and cruelty free. This is a PLUS for those of us with those concerns.

The Lime Crime Chinadoll Pressed Eyeshadow Palette is definitely a bright fun loving palette for the color lover out there. I love the texture and color payoff of the eyeshadows that are included and I am happy to see some hard to find shades in this palette. The price is a bit steep for the amount of product you get especially considering that Lime Crime is an indie brand and has been involved in so much controversy. If you love the colors and can get pass the brand's reputation and price point then I say it's worth a look.

Have you tried this palette? Interested in trying it? Thoughts on the brand?
