Mehron, as a brand, is centered in the commercial theatrical, educational, motion picture, television, video, opera, clowning, Halloween, and face painting markets. But in recent years, with the explosion of the beauty blogging world and YouTube, this brand has been getting noticed by the regular makeup consumer. Mehron too is taking notice of this and is expanding itself into the more consumer friendly world of online sales, cosmetic stires and beauty conventions.

Mehron's prices matched with excellent quality are what have made them such a great find in our beauty/cosmetics world. What used to be a secret in the performance industry is now a welcomed addition to our mainstream beauty circle.

The prices of Mehron's product prices settle at a comfortable medium between drugstore and medium-to-higher ends brands. These eyeshadows will cost you about as much as a L'Oreal HIP Eyeshadow Duo but blow you away with the quality of MUFE or NARS. Definitely a great bargain for excellent products. Check them out if you haven't already!

The Mehron INtense PRO™ Pressed Pigment Eye Shadow Singles and 8-Color Palettes are available online at the Mehron website as well as various stage makeup websites and at various retailers of Mehron makeup.

Mehron also offers international shipping so our neighbors from lands afar can indulge as well. :)

The Mehron INtense PRO™ Pressed Pigment Eye Shadow Singles come in black round plastic pots/compacts with a clear a snap clasp lid. The lids are see-through so you can easily tell the colors without opening the compact.

There is a product label on the back which gives the name of the color and company information. The print on these labels is not very permanent and can rub off (some of mine already did) easily. This is not so fun if you haven't memorized the color name and need that information for reference....or blogging....or re-ordering.

The package is solid and secure enough for travel but be mindful that your eyeshadows don't get cracked or smashed. I did end up with a smashed eyeshadow from jostling a cracked one around for too long - but it stayed contained in the little compact without making a mess of everything around it.

The Mehron INtense PRO™ Pressed Pigment Eye Shadow Singles "are super long-lasting matte finish shadows that are edgy, bright, and sophisticated. Our pigment rich, high-performing shadows offer an essential range of intense hues and a velvety matte texture. Formulated without shimmer, these completely matte shades have an incredible silky finish which allows for amazing color payoff"

FINISH
+ | As stated in Mehron's description, the Mehron INtense PRO™ Pressed Pigment Eye Shadows are all matte in finish. There is no shimmer, no shine, no glitter to be found. Just straight up matte shades all around. Mattes are my favorite texture in eyeshadows because I find it more versatile on all skin types and age ranges. Shimmers may not be the best for more mature skin so mattes are a go-to here. Plus you are able to play a lot more with shading, contouring and depth when using mattes.

Mattes may not be your go-to because of their notorious reputation for being chalky and difficult to blend but these eyeshadows have a divinely creamy smooth texture and great blend-ability.

TEXTURE
+ | The Mehron INtense PRO™ Pressed Pigment Eye Shadows are incredibly creamy and velvety smooth. They are almost buttery to the touch. They have a fantastic creamy soft feeling to them when applied to the skin. While these are matte and soft they are far from powdery or chalky. A great feat when we talk about matte finishes. One shade was a bit tricky at first, Hurricane Blue (dark navy), but once you move pass the first layers of the product then the creaminess shines through.
| But with softer matte shades there can be some excess loose powder left over then these are used. Be careful when using these as there can be fallout - tap off the excess before applying to the eyelids to avoid mishaps.

PIGMENTATION
The shades I picked up have intense color pigmentation and payoff in a single swipe. They can be built up to much more pigmented intensity is you so chose as well. The more neon colors such as Inferno, Electric Green and Yellow Spark (from the Fire colors) do require a bit more building in color than the other shades but these are nuances of such shades I suppose.

COLORS
+/ | Now let's talk colors - I think Mehron did a good job with the color selection but they are missing a few neutrals and highlight shades. The brights and colorful shades are fun and gorgeous but I know our neutral lovers out there would love to see more than 2 nude shades in the entire collection. I do hope Mehron adds to the color range with a few more wearable neutrals and of course a few lighter highlight colors - creams, deep brown, light browns, maybe burgundy and deep purples.
APPLICATION
+/ | The Mehron INtense PRO™ Pressed Pigment Eye Shadows are best applied with a dense brush more intense color payoff but can also be used with a fluffier blending brush for sheerer coverage. While the eyeshadows apply well without a primer, they work even better when applied over a base/primer. Again, be careful when using these as there can be fallout - tap off the excess before applying to the eyelids to avoid mishaps.

Blending these eyeshadows is very easy - they move around nicely and work seamlessly with each other and other colors as well. However, as with most mattes, over-blending will cause the colors to fade slightly so be sure to re-apply more product to keep the desired intensity.

WEAR
+ | The Mehron INtense PRO™ Pressed Pigment Eye Shadows are touted as long-lasting but alas there is not timeline associated with the claim. Long-lasting for me would be at least 8+ hours of wear with fading or creasing. These eyeshadows live up to my expectations and wear very well without a primer/base for 7-1/2+ hours before there is any fading in intensity. When used with a primer/base the wear is certainly prolonged a couple of hours for a more full day of wear (10+ hours).

The Mehron INtense PRO™ Pressed Pigment Eye Shadows are a fantastic addition to Mehron's line-up and a GREAT way to reach into the mainstream cosmetics market. These eyeshadows are so amazingly cheap and such high quality PLUS you get a ton of product! Who can beat that?? The texture and colors are phenomenal and the pigmentation is superb....can you find some more awesome adjectives for me to use to describe these eyeshadows? You MUST MUST try these!

What are your thoughts? Interested in trying them?

Mehron Metallic Powders - THOUGHTS and SWATCHES...

Mehron Metallic Powders
THOUGHTS and SWATCHES...

This ultra fine Metallic Powder Makeup enables you to create dramatic makeup designs and effects. The soft Metallic Powder Makeup made by Mehron, Leaders in Theatrical Makeup since 1927, is finely crafted and evenly blended to provide you with the best available accenting powder on the market.

The Metallic Powder formulated by the researchers of Mehron is currently available in Gold, Silver, Cooper, and Bronze allowing you to add dynamic shiny powder to any makeup look. This ultra fine, silky smooth Metallic Powder can be used dry or combine it with Mehron Mixing Liquid to form a water-based metallic liquid makeup. The dynamic effects of Metallic Makeup Powder can be used in body painting, face painting, costume makeup, character makeup and sexy evening makeup.

The Mehron Metallic Powders are priced at $6.50-$8.95 for 0.5-1.0 oz of product. The price of these powders will vary based on the supplier. In addition, shipping costs will also play an overall cost of these powders since they are not readily available in stores or at counters.

There are numerous loose pigment/eyeshadows on the market although not as many brands/companies have metallic versions available. This may be due to the FDA restrictions to metallic powders around the eyes. Most companies will attach a warning to their metallic products indicating that eye use is not recommended. I have personally used products that are not recommended for the eyes on my eyes but I must warn that you use these at your own risk!

The Mehron Metallic Powders are among the cheapest pigments on the market. To add to that they are also among the largest pigments coming in at almost 5 times the average pigment. These are a great bargain hands down! Even drugstore brands can't top them!

The Mehron Metallic Powders are available at various cosmetics/stage makeup websites and at various retailers of Mehron. Mehron also has their own website, www.mehron.com, and provides international shipping options.

The Mehron Metallic Powders come in mini clear plastic jars with a screw top cap. The cap itself has a protruding insert which helps to prevent spillage from the seams of the cap - nice touch. The jars are a no-muss, no-fuss practical design without any of the frills of higher-end makeup. There is no sifter and you must dip inside the jar or tilt it t get the product out - just be careful not to spill!

The Mehron Metallic Powders are ultra-fine metallic powders that may be used wet or dry to create shiny metallic effect on the skin.

These powders are silky overall smooth and very pigmented - one swipe is all you need dry or wet. They mix easily with mixing mediums to create liquid makeup for the face and body. These powders are not recommended for use on the eye area so use at your own risk. I have personally used them both on my eyes and lips without any irritation or burning. They blend nicely and work well with other eyeshadows for a gorgeous effect. They hold up well during wear without any signs of fading and also remove equally as easily with soap and water.

The finish is a high shine metallic sheen that is more pronounced when used wet - these bad boys are like liquid metal. They can be mixed with lipgloss for a fun effect and even with nail polish to add a metallic edge.

The Mehron Metallic Powders are phenomenal powders. They are great for face/body painting and special metallic effects. Although they are not recommended for the eye area I absolutely love these for creating shiny foiled effects on the lids. If you are into artistic makeup or you want to risk using these on your eyes then I definitely recommend these...and at these prices it's a win-win!
