The Kat Von D Metal Crush Eyeshadows retail for $21 for 0.1 oz of product. For reference typical small eyeshadows on the market are 0.05 oz each - think MAC and Urban Decay eyeshadow pans. Yes my dears, that means these are double the size of the eyeshadows we are used to.

The Kat Von D Metal Crush Eyeshadows is on the higher side of the price spectrum especially in the mid-end market where I consider this brand to align. Although you do get a ton of product, I would rather get less product and pay a lower price - who goes through this much of a bright eyeshadow anyway?!

The Kat Von D Metal Crush Eyeshadows come in sleek matte black plastic compacts with a transparent window in the center of the lids. The transparent center of the lid features a silver overlay of the Kat Von D logo and gives an easy glimpse at the shade inside. The compacts themselves are secured close by integral mating tabs in the lid and base. There is a black and white label on the bottom of each compact with the shade name and manufacturing information.

The eyeshadows are in metal pans that can be de-potted if so desired and placed in personalized palettes. Be mindful though, that the eyeshadows themselves are somewhat fragile and can be damaged easily. I have not had any issues with any of my eyeshadows breaking/cracking but others have reported smashed eyeshadows quite frequently.

The packaging is sleek and thin but very practical for storage and use. I find the transparent lid being handy for grabbing a shade without having to open each pot.

COLORS/SHADES

The Kat Von D Metal Crush Eyeshadows is a selection of 11 bright and metallic shades - gold, purple, copper, green, blue. This is a not a collection for the tame of heart or the neutral lover. It is truly for those of us who love intense metallic shades and bright pops of color.

TEXTURE & FINISH

The Kat Von D Metal Crush Eyeshadows come in a finish only - metallic - or Kat Von D's version of metallic. These are are moderately frosty bold shades but not quite the intense shine you would expect from a metallic finish. Most of the shades also have micro glitter particles that help with sheen and blend-ability.

PIGMENTATION

The Kat Von D Metal Crush Eyeshadows are overall intensely pigmented with/without a primer or eyeshadow base. These do not take very much to get full color payoff and intensity - which is impressive in my book. None of the shades fell short at all.

APPLICATION & WEAR

The Kat Von D Metal Crush Eyeshadows are great eyeshadows with intense color payoff and are blend-able without being overly powdery. They are smooth but not overly creamy shades and they apply well on the eyes.

They last all day on the eyes for me without fading or creasing. They also work well with other formulae and shades....which you will need to mix with these to get a cohesive look. Be careful with the brighter shades as they can lead to a bit of staining on the skin.

They are quite intense eyeshadows so be sure to use dense brushes and tap off any excess product to avoid fallout. I also do suggest using an eyeshadow primer for the best results.

The Kat Von D Metal Crush Eyeshadows are a GREAT addition to the Kat Von D lineup and the cosmetics market as a whole. They are fun, bold shades that will certainly please the color lover out there. And on top of that the formula is top notch in pigmentation, staying power and blend-ability. These are great eyeshadows to try out....even though the price is a bit steep. I say grab your favorite shade and give it try!
