'Bright Spring Sunshine' Look

'Bright Spring Sunshine' Look

I'm feeling a bit under the weather today so I wanted to brighten my day with this look. I was inspired by a YouTube video (hair tutorial but I was focused on her makeup) so I wanted to give it a try. Here's what I came up with...

Eyes:

PRIME:
I started off with Urban Decay Primer Potion all over my lid up to the brow bone. I also applied MAC Soft Ochre Paintpot (matte light yellowy cream) all over my lid up to my brow bone as my primary base.

COLOR:
On the inner lid and tear duct, I applied MAC Bright Future Eyeshadow (shimmery yellow).
Next on the middle of the lid, I applied MAC Orange Eyeshadow (matte orange).
On the outer lid and outer V I applied MAC Cross-Cultural Eyeshadow (matte medium brown).
For the crease and brow bone I used MAC Goldenrod Eyeshadow (matte golden yellow ).
For highlight I used MAC Ricepaper Eyeshadow (shimmery champagne gold).

BROWS:
My brows are filled in with MAC Eyebrow Pencil in Stud.

DEFINE:
I lined my upper lashline with MAC Dipdown Fluidline (matte dark brown).
Then I lined my lower waterline with Inglot #82 (purple) and Inglot #87 (teal) Cream Eyeliners.
I used MAC Opulash Mascara for my lashes.

Lips:

POLISH:
MAC Kinda Sexy Lipstick and MAC Melt In Your Mouth Cremesheen Glass.

Face:

FINISH:
I used NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Tahoe with MAC Select Moisturecover Concealer in NW35 under my eyes. I set with MAC Blot Powder in Dark.
I used MUFE #22 Sculpting Blush for my cheeks.

MAC Opulash Mascara

MAC Opulash Mascara

From MAC...

THE BIGGEST, BADDEST, BOUFFANT LASHES EVER ARE MAKING NOISE WITH THEIR
SEXY SWEEP… The most extreme volumization ever seen! Just like going to your hairdresser for the boldest Barbarella blowout you’d ever dare to wear, Opulash creates aesthetic extremes when it gets going, for a dramatic end look. It’s all in the brush: enlarged and engineered to grab roots, lift, hold, replicate, exaggerate, and build-out like an architect intent on astounding with structural sleight-of-hand. Pick up the brush – see it volumize and curl – and you’ll know the difference. Large diameter backs you up, tapered front tip makes inner corners sleeker to reach. Needless to say, no clumping or Spider-Woman Syndrome.

Worth the HYPE??...

It's just OK for me. It's not the best mascara I have ever tried but it is far from the worst. I give it a 7.5 on a scale of 10.

YES the brush is huge and true there is no clumping. But I was not WOW'd by the volume factor at all. I do like this mascara but I am not floored by it's performance. I already have length and curl so all I ask for is volume. I did get nice volume but not as much as I expected.

The price is just right ($14 US) and it is even bigger than other MAC mascaras (0.38 US oz.). Don't expect miracles but it is still a GOOD mascara.

MAC Opulash Mascara VS DIOR Diorshow Mascara

The new MAC Opulash Mascara has been compared to Dior Diorshow Mascara since the buzz started.

So how do they compare? MAC Opulash has a much bigger brush (wider) but they have similar bristles and taper the same. They do pretty much the same thing to my lashes to tell you the truth except that Diorshow is a blacker black. Other than that they seem to perform the same for me. Remember all I need is volume though...so for almost half the price I say get MAC Opulash!

FEEDBACK from readers....it seems that MAC Opulash Mascara is winning this competition!
