Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Intense Eyeshadows - THOUGHTS and SWATCHES...

Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Intense Eyeshadows
This innovative hybrid texture, which is not a powder, nor a cream acts like a smooth, lasting color film. Each shade is intensified with a second pigment for a multi-dimensional effect. In just one swoop, create a wet, shimmering smokey eye. Base color covers eyelid, and second pigment adds drama to the contour.

The technology: Color-FilTM,  for the first time in an eyeshadow. A new high resistance bi-polymer enables the formula to perfectly fit the color to the eyelid with cushiony suppleness, for a never seen comfortable long wear.

Twenty four hour color wear, crease proof, flake proof, waterproof and sweat-proof,  Eyes To Kill Intense Eyeshadows slide on, stay on, but wipe off in an instant. Apply wet or dry with fingers or the Armani large eye contour brush.

My 4 Ps

Price
The Eyes To Kill Intense Eyeshadows costs $32 for 0.14 oz of product. These may seem pricey but they are within the range for high-end eyeshadows. The price may not be for everyone but for those who do not mind the splurge it may be considered manageable. There is not much to compare these to since they are a new breed of eyeshadow all to themselves. A regular Giorgio Armani powder eyeshadow is $29-$30 so these cost a bit more but you get a very decent amount of product in the jars.

Packaging
The eyeshadows are packaged in a glass jars with a hard plastic lid similar to a MAC Paintpot and other cream eyeshadows. Inside the container there is also a small cap insert that is used for added protection against 'drying out' and it also helps to keep the product pressed in place. Glass containers work best for extending the shelf life of creamy products and helps to retain the moisture longer. Although these eyeshadows are not creams they still have a certain level of moisture that can dry out and change the consistency of the eyeshadows. The shelf life for these eyeshadows is 24 months which is at least twice the life of a regular cream eyeshadow.

Product
This is where the Eyes To Kill Intense Eyeshadows get interesting. It is not a cream product nor is it powder but rather a mousse-like pressed pigment with a half powder/half cream consistency. The eyeshadows have a very soft creamy texture that holds together like a cream product but still picks up on a brush in a loose (clumped but not chunky) powder form. It reminds me of chunky moist pigments in the texture but the product is much smoother and the application is much easier.

The lighter shades have a high frost metallic finish while the darkest shades, #2 and #13, are more of a satin finish. The eyeshadows do not feel wet when they are applied but feel creamy in application and can give the illusion of wet eyelids.

Performance
These eyeshadows are seriously long-wearing on my skin and are waterproof, crease resistant and flake free as touted. However, they can smudge a bit if they are rubbed directly, which allows time to work with them to achieve your desired look.

The formula also allows them to feel very lightweight almost airy and they do not weigh the eyelids down at all....feels like wearing nothing.

The eyeshadows are nicely pigmented and give full color when applied. Most of the colors are opaque in one swipe but the lighter shades may take a bit of layering which is easily done.

The shades can be tricky though and do not translate exactly from pot to skin. In other words, what you see will not be what you get. The final color will be a mixture of the swirled colors in the pot which makes for a great effect.

Overall
I think the hybrid formula is amazing. I think the price is about right for a high-end brand and while it may be pricey it is still within the realm of other high-end brands. The colors are very interesting but be mindful of the high frost metallic finish that comes with most of these shades. If you love high frost then these are great for you. If you want a 'wet' appearance to your eyeshadows then again these are great for you. If you shy away from frosts (like myself) or have crepey eyelids then these may not be your best friend. The high frost can enhance lines and wrinkles so keep that in mind. I love the two shades I ended up with - #2 Lust Red and #13 Black - since they are great for smoky looks with just a hint of sheen to keep things interesting.

I tested all of these just for good measure:

#02 Lust Red - Black infused with red. Translates as a deep burgundy with light red sheen.

#04 Pulp Fiction - Dark silver infused with red, pink and light silver. Very unusual color. Translates as a metallic gunmetal silver with pink sheen.

#05 Gold Blitz - Vivid deep yellow gold infused with bronze. Translates as a shiny golden bronze.

#06 Khaki Pulse - Bronze infused with light green. Translates to a great khaki bronze color with green sheen.

#07 Sweet Fire - Light pink infused with red. translates to a rosy pink.

#09 Rock Sand - Champagne infused with pink. Translates as a high metallic light champagne with light pink sheen.

#10 Airy Jade - Airy blue infused with light silver. Translates as a icy light silver with very light blue sheen.

#11 White Punch - White infused with light gold. Translates to a light frosty white gold.

#12 Moonlight - Light white silver infused with light pink. Translates to a very light silver with a pink sheen.

#13 Black - Satin deep black. Translates as a slate black with very slight blue/purple sheen.

#15 Copper Black/Grey - Yellow gold infused with black. Translates to a medium deep bronze.

#16 White/ Black Grey - White infused with black and gunmetal silver. Translates to a medium silver.
