'Mohegan Sun' Look
'Mohegan Sun' Look
This is another holiday inspired look which actually turned out more intense than I planned. : ) It is full of sparkle and glitter and is definitely a great look for a New Year's Eve celebration. Hope you guys have a happy holiday and a Merry Christmas! I'm looking forward to a stuffed belly tomorrow for sure!
Eyes:
PRIME:
I started off with Too Faced Shadow Insurance Eyeshadow Primer all over my lid up to the brow bone. I applied MAC Groundwork Paintpot (satin neutral) all over my lid and on my brow bone as my primary base - Sonia Kashuk Dome Blending Brush - and MAC Artifact Paintpot (red based burgundy) all over my lid as a secondary base - MAC 242 Shader Brush.
COLOR:
On the inner lid and tearduct area I applied MAC Juiced Type (satin orange gold). MAC 242 Shader Brush
Next on the middle of the lid I applied MAC De-Vil Eyeshadow (shimmery red copper). MAC 242 Shader Brush
On the outer lid and crease I applied MAC The Family Crest Pigment (black with golden bronze shimmer). Sonia Kashuk Dome Blending Brush
On the browbone area and for blending I used MAC Tete-a-Tint Eyeshadow (matte caramel brown). MAC Large 252 Shader Brush
For highlight I used Bare Escentuals Clear Radiance All Over Face Color (shimmery light pink). MAC Large 252 Shader Brush
For my lower lashline I used MAC The Family Crest Pigment (black with golden bronze shimmer). Stila #28 Smudge Pot Brush
For added sparkle I used MAC Reflects Bronze with Eye Kandy Liquid Sugar (shimmery golden bronze). A Design Concealer Brush
BROWS:
My brows are filled in with MAC Eyebrow Pencil in Stud and NARS Coconut Grove Eyeshadow (matte blackened brown). Paula Dorf Eye Definer Flat Top Brush
DEFINE:
I lined my upper and lower lashline with Wet 'n' Wild Gel Eyeliner in Black. MAC 266 Small Angle Brush
I lined my lower waterline with L'Oreal HIP Cream Eyeliner in Black. Stila #28 Smudge Pot Brush
I used Too Faced Lash Injection Mascara for my lashes and added Beautee Senses #263 False Eyelashes for effect.
Lips:
For my lips I used OCC Melange Lip Tar (creamy peachy nude) topped with MAC Frankly Fresh Lipglass (creamy coral pink).
Face:
FINISH:
MAC Oil Control Lotion and Tarte Clean Slate Face Primer. I used MAC Pro Longwear Foundation in NC45 - Sigma Flat Top Synthetic Kabuki Brush - for my face and set my t-zone with MAC Blot Powder in Dark. I used YSL TOUCHE ÉCLAT Radiant Touch in #5 and MUFE #14 Full Cover Concealer - Fingers : ) under my eyes set with Benefit Powderflage - Beauty Blender Sponge.

Price
Okay let's not even pretend...the price stings! But when we compare the amount of product for the price versus other similar brands, it is actually cheaper! MAC Studio Finish Concealer is $16.50 for 0.24 oz which is approximately $34.40 for 0.5 oz (same size as MUFE). NARS Concealer is $22 for 0.12 oz which is approximately $91.70 for 0.5 oz (same size as MUFE). And Benefit Erase Paste is $26 for 0.15 oz which is approximately $86.70 for 0.5 oz (same size as MUFE).
Translation...you get a lot of bang for your buck! Even though the price may seem high, you get a lot of product for $30. Plus a little goes a loooooooooonnnnnngggggggg way so this will last for many many months. I am still using my same one for almost a year and I have about 1/3 left.
Packaging
Simple and effective! The MUFE Full Cover Concealer comes in a plastic squeeze tube with a pointed tip. The application is very hygienic since the product is dispensed through a squeeze tube rather than dipping into a jar or using a doe-foot applicator. There is also extreme control over the amount of product that is doled out from the tube.
Product
The MUFE Full Cover Concealer is a rich creamy liquid concealer that dries to a matte, waterproof finish. The product is creamy and highly pigmented and is available in 12 shades from light to very deep. All skintones should be able to find a suitable shade in this range.
No.12, No 14
Performance
This is my GO TO concealer! It covers flaws and undereye circles with ease. It dries quickly so you must work fast with this product and once it sets, it is waterproof and smudge-proof.
I love this for my dark undereye circles because it covers the darkness without creasing or settling into the lines under my eyes. This is the only concealer I have used under my eyes that does not accentuate the lines and creases under my eye. The concealer dries to a matte finish which is waterproof - yes I have even swam with the concealer on!
Be sure to moisturize the skin before using this concealer though because it can be drying. Also, you can feel some tightness on the skin when the concealer dries so MOISTURIZE! You can also skip the setting powder in this case because the concealer sets itself.
Overall
I highly recommend this concealer! This is especially great for oily skin and undereye circles! But be sure to moisturize and work quickly!
Sally Hansen Jumpin' Jade NAILS
Sally Hansen Jumpin' Jade NAILS
These nails are somewhat inspired by the holiday season. I used Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Fast Dry Nail Color in Jumpin' Jade. It is a beautiful emerald green color with an iridescent green/teal sheen. You can get a full layer of color in one coat but I applied two coats for solid color.

Magnolia Makeup - Glitters and NEW Pigments
Magnolia Makeup - Glitters and NEW Pigments
So I feel like I'm doing free advertising for this company but I guess I do it for all products I review and swatch right? But I just didn't want you guys to feel like I'm being compensated by the brand (I wish I could get some more of their products to try out though...for no cost). I bought all these products on my own (except the gold glitter) while they were on sale.
And guess what? They are once again on sale for 50% OFF all the original pigments and glitters (that's $5 each) and $8 each for the new pigments that were just released.
Now as for the newly released pigments. I absolutely adore the colors. They are rich and pigmented and remind me of the Tartan Tale Pigments from MAC. However, the price threw me for a loop. These are (on sale) for $8 each and hold ONLY 1.5g of product. This is beyond me! This is much more expensive than MAC Pigments which are $6.50 per 1.5g and Sugarpill Loose Eyeshadows which are $3.60 per 1.5g. EXCUSE ME! And the new 'sleek' packaging is still a simple sample jar with sifter lid. I am very disappointed with the new pigment pricing for sure. PASS! I am so mad because these colors are divine...but I can't openly say I recommend them on principle! (But if you don't mind the price for some fab colors....)
But their regular pigments and glitters are now $5 and are MUCH larger and still fab. So check those out if interested.
GLITTERS
There are NO labels on these so I don't know how anyone will keep track. Plus some of the colors are deceiving - my red looks pink....
Red Gliz - Where is the red?
Black Gliz - It's a flat black so don't expect any sparkle from the glitter (if you can call it that anymore)
Orange Gliz - Very pretty! has a coppery orange look.
Green Gliz - Super fun, gift wrap green!
Holo Gold Gliz - It's gold with iridescent sparkles.
Blue Gliz - Plain blue...get the Blue Hologram Gliz instead.
Blue Hologram Gliz - I see blue and fabulous hologram blue indeed!
Silver Gliz - It's silver and it sparkles. Not much more to say.
Holo Gold, Orange, Blue, Silver
Black, Green, Silver Hologram, Red
NEW PIGMENTS (Arrrghhhh!!!!!!!!!!)
The colors barely match up to their color descriptions. Not sure what the intention was with these. But alas...I'm in love with Gilded, Calliope and Who Dat!!! I say skip the rest because they are not worth the price plus their are great similar colors in the original pigments.
200 Crescent - A dark with turquoise sparkles.
I have no idea what this description means. It's similar to MAC Moonlight Night (much better value) and very close to Swamp Thing and Envy. Get Envy instead.
Calliope - A supersaturated with copper sparkles.
Again huh? Anyhow...it's a red based copper and very pretty.
Swamp Thang - A blue toned green with tons of green sparkle.
Too similar to 040 Envy to justify. Get Envy instead.
Who Dat!!! - A black with gold sparkles.
Similar to MAC The Family Crest Pigment (which is a much better value)
Kiss - A blue toned violet with tons of violet sparkle.
Normal everyday purple. Nothing too special here.
198 Tinsel - A supersaturated metallic silver with sparkles.
It's a super sparkly silver.
Gilded - A supersaturated gold bronze with bronze sparkle.
Best for last! WOW! I'm just in love with this color. It is a highly metallic yellow sun gold...not bronze as described.
Kiss, Gilded, Tinsel, Swamp Thing
Who Dat!!!, Calliope, Crescent, Kiss

M·A·C Mixing Mediums OVERVIEW
M·A·C Mixing Mediums OVERVIEW
As it relates to makeup, a mixing medium is a liquid/gel/cream solvent that is mixed with powder or liquid makeup products such as pigments, glitter, foundation, to create a moist or thinner consistency and help with adhesion to the skin.
What? LOL! Simply put a mixing medium is a liquid or creamy base that can used with powder or liquid makeup to create customized eyeliners, cream eyeshadows, liquid eyeshadows, mascara, glitter gels, body paints, body lotions, etc. It can even be used to dilute existing liquid foundations for a thinner consistency.
Benefits:
- Using loose pigments and eyeshadows wet or 'foiled' not only creates a liquid eyeshadow but also INTENSIFIES the color of the pigment or eyeshadow.
- FALLOUT from loose pigments and eyeshadows is minimized or even eliminated when they are used wet.
- Mixing Medium help loose pigments/eyeshadows AND glitter ADHERE to the skin.
- Thicker products such as foundations can be SHEERED out by adding mixing medium.
- CUSTOM eyeliners, cream eyeshadows, liquid eyeshadows, mascara, glitter gels, body paints, body lotions, etc.
Let's dive into what M·A·C has to offer in this category and what you may find useful for personal or even professional use.
***************************
Mixing Medium Alcohol Base
Formula to dilute and mix with M·A·C powder or liquid makeup. Used to create effects from sheer to opaque. Perfect to decorate the face or body. Mix with Pigments and powders to form an ultra light gel that dries quickly upon application with minimal transference and ultimate wear. For use on body, from neck down.
50 ml bottle / 1.7 fl oz.
US$18.00
The first thing I will say about the Mixing Medium Alcohol Base is DO NOT use this on your eyes or face! It will burn and irritate the eyes/facial skin because it is alcohol based. When used on the body (below the neck) this mixing medium is great for creating fast drying body paints and body glitter with long wear time. It produces a gel-like consistency that should be used quickly since the drying time is reduced by the alcohol. The consistency can be adjusted to your liking from sheer to opaque depending on the amount of product used.
***************************
Mixing Medium Water Base
Formula to dilute and mix with M·A·C powder or liquid makeup. Used to create effects from sheer to opaque. Perfect to decorate the face or body. Created for those who like to design their own shades and colours. Mix with pigments and powders to create anything from full, opaque coverage to sheer. Useful for adhering M·A·C Glitter to the skin.
50 ml bottle / 1.7 fl oz.
US$18.00
This is probably the most famous and popular of the mixing mediums. It is quite versatile and can be used with pigments, loose eyeshadows, glitter, water activated eyeshadows (such as Mehron, Kryolan, Ben Nye) and the like. This is a watery liquid and will create a water color effect that can be adjusted to desired by adding more or less to the mixture. The consistency can be adjusted to your liking from sheer to opaque depending on the amount of product used.
***************************
A mixing medium base that can be mixed with pigments and glitters to create unique custom shades for face and body. Provides superior adherence and hold of pigments and glitters to the skin. Protects against environmental aggression. Non-irritating and suitable for all skin types. An easy and effective way to create custom body paints and glitter gels. Not for use around the eye area.
120 ml / 4 fl oz. tube
US$20.00
This mixing medium is similar to the water based mixing medium but provides more tackiness for better adhesion of glitters (especially) and pigments to the skin. This will stay intact until removed with makeup remover. The consistency can be adjusted to your liking from sheer to opaque depending on the amount of product used.

Face & Body Mixing Medium
Formula to dilute and mix with M·A·C powder or liquid makeup. Used to create effects from sheer to opaque. Perfect to decorate the face or body. Mix with pigments and powders to create a number of custom shades and colours. It offers sheer, even coverage and long-wearing attributes. Create custom body lotions or use to thin down heavier foundations such as M•A•C Full Coverage Foundation. Use alone to give the skin a satin glow.
50 ml bottle / 1.7 fl oz.
US$18.00
This mixing medium has a light flesh toned color so it's best used for diluting thicker foundations and creating liquid products for the face and body. This is great for creating customized liquid bronzers, highlighters and lotions when mixed with pigments and loose colors. The consistency can be adjusted to your liking from sheer to opaque depending on the amount of product used.
***************************
Mixing Medium Eyeliner A colorless, translucent mixing medium that can be mixed with pigments and glitter to create unique customized eyeliner shades. Contains Vitamins A, C and E to buffer the delicate skin around the eye area from environmental aggression. Non-irritating and suitable for all skin types.
10 ml / 0.33 US oz tube
US$12.00
This is a great creamy gel formula that can be used with loose colors and glitter to create long lasting liquid eyeliners. This mixing medium is a thicker gel-liquid which allows for more dense pigmentation. This will stay intact until removed with makeup remover. The consistency can be adjusted to your liking from sheer to opaque depending on the amount of product used.

Mixing Medium Lash
Colorless Pro Long Lash mixing medium base that allows you to create unique customized shades of Pro Long Lash Mascara. Strengthens and conditions lashes. Provides superior adherence of color and extended wear, curl and lengthening. Suitable for all skin types.
10 ml / 0.33 US oz tube
US$12.00
This mixing medium is ideal for making custom colored mascara using the MAC Pro Long Lash formula. The formula is long lasting and lengthening and adding pigments makes it fun and colorful!
