The M·A·C Studio Careblend/Pressed Powder is priced at $23 for 0.35 oz of product and is among the cheapest M·A·C Powders . This for me is already a selling point since M·A·C Powders are on the cheaper side when compared to other mid-to-high-end cosmetic brands. In addition to being among the cheapest on the market, they also come with a solid amount of product. Although they are not the largest powders from M·A·CM·A·C

The M·A·C Studio Careblend/Pressed Powder is available for purchase at M·A·C (stores and online) and other M·A·C retailers such as Nordstrom, Macy's, etc. There are 8 shades available that will be sure to cover a wide range of skintones. Since the powder is sheer-to-light coverage it shouldn't add too much color to your skin or on top of your foundation.

For reference I am NC45 in M·A·C Studio Fix Fluid Foundation and I can use a few shades of the M·A·C Studio Careblend/Pressed Powder - Medium Deep, Medium Plus and Dark.

The M·A·C Studio Careblend/Pressed Powder comes in similar packaging as the M·A·C Blot Powder and M·A·C Select Sheer/Pressed Powder which is the solid black compact with a circular mirror inside the lid. The M·A·C logo and product name are printed in silver on the top while the product label with shade description, product size and company details is located on the bottom of the compact. Inside there is also powder puff

The compact is solid and perfect for travel. I have never had an issue with breaking or damage while it tousles around in my handbag or luggage. The mirror and powder puff are nice inclusions especially for touch-ups on the go.

TEXTURE

The M·A·C Studio Careblend/Pressed Powder is an ultra-soft, ultra-smooth, ultra-creamy powder that feels silky when applied to the skin. I have no issues with this powder being chalky or powdery - weird to say a powder isn't powdery. It blends onto the skin almost like a light cream foundation would but in a powder form.

FINISH

The M·A·C Studio Careblend/Pressed Powder M·A·C Blot Powder The M·A·C Studio Careblend/Pressed Powder instead gives a nice matte finish that still looks like natural skin. It is also hard to overdo this product and cause a cake-y mess which is great for layering.

Hey my loves. Been a while huh? Hahahahaaaa. I am beginning to sound like a broken record. I haven't been wearing too much makeup lately...for whatever reason...taking a makeup-vacation I suppose...or just straight up lazy. Doesn't winter make you hibernate anyway?

Anywho I decided to go with a different spin on my makeup. I'm going to colored lashes for a semi cut-crease. It's not something I ever really do too often so I hope you like it. (Don't mind the wet hair...LOL)

Eyes:
PRIME:
I applied Urban Decay Primer Potion all over my lid up to the brow bone. I then applied MAC Pro Longwear Concealer in NW35 under my brow and on my browbone area - Bare Escentuals Maximum Coverage Concealer Brush. I then applied MAC Layin Low Paintpot (creamy beige) all over my lid up to the brow bone as my primary base - Real Techniques Deluxe Crease Brush.

COLOR:
For the entire lid and browbone area I applied MAC Wild By Nature Eyeshadow (matte camel). MAC 252 Large Shader Brush
For the outer cut-crease I applied MAC Indian Ink Shadow (matte deep purple) topped with MUFE #92 Eyeshadow (matte brilliant purple). MAC 242 Small Shader Brush + MAC 217 Blending Brush
For highlight under my brow I used Magnolia Makeup Buff Pigment (matte ivory). MAC 252 Large Shader Brush
On the lower lashline I applied Inglot AMC Eyeliner Gel in #83 (deep purple). Cozzette D200 Pencil Definer Brush

BROWS:
My brows are filled in with MAC Eyebrow Pencil in Stud and NARS Coconut Grove Eyeshadow (matte blackened brown). Paula Dorf Eye Definer Flat Top Brush

DEFINE:
I lined my lower waterline with Inglot AMC Eyeliner Gel in #83 (deep purple). MAC 263 Small Angle Brush
I used Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Mascara in Amethyst for my lashes and added Ardell Star Lashes in I ♥ Zach (violet) for effect. Duo Lash Adhesive

For my lips I used Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in #380 Vintage Pink (creamy purple pink) topped with Anastasia Hydrafull Gloss in Guava (shimmery light pink).

I primed my skin with Boscia Revitalizing Black Hydration Gel - hands. I used Chanel Perfection Lumière Long-Wear Flawless Fluid Makeup in 54 Beige Ambré - Sigma Flat Top Synthetic Kabuki Brush - for my face and set my t-zone with MAC Studio Careblend/Pressed Powder in Dark - face puff.

I used Tarte Smooth Operator™ Amazonian Clay Waterproof Concealer - fingers - under my eyes set with MAC Studio Careblend/Pressed Powder in Medium Deep - face puff.

I used Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Exposed (satin nude) for my cheeks - Cozzette Contour Stylist S135 Brush and MUFE #2 Sculpting Kit for contour - Sigma Angled Kabuki Brush.

The Maybelline Color Tattoo (BY EYESTUDIO) 24 hr Eyeshadows are priced at $5.99+ for 0.14 oz of product. The price will vary for these since they are available drugstore and discount retailers - I got mine for $5.99 at Harmons but at Ulta they are $6.99 each. Also, since Maybelline is considered a drugstore/low-end makeup brand you are sure to be able to grab these on sale (hello buy 1, get 1) or at discounted prices.

These eyeshadows are actually on the small side in terms of the amount of product. In fact they have the least amount of product when compared to similar products from other brands. At this price though, the amount of product shouldn't really sway you one way or the other - they are affordable and even buying two will still be cheaper than similar products from higher end brands.

The Maybelline Color Tattoo (BY EYESTUDIO) 24 hr Eyeshadows are available at drugstores and various retail stores within the US. You can find these at Ulta stores, on the Ulta website, Harmons, Target, Walmart, Walgreens, etc.

The Maybelline Color Tattoo (BY EYESTUDIO) 24 hr Eyeshadows are packaged in clear round glass jars with black screw-top lids. The glass jars are very similar to the L'Oréal HIP Cream Liner jars. Since these come in glass containers the shelf-life of the product is greatly improved versus plastic jars. The screw-top lids also have enough grooves and a liner insert to ensure a tighter seal and prevent premature drying-out of these products.

The name of the eyeshadow is printed in white on a black label which is secured to the lid of the jars, along with the product amount and company information. The jars are see-through to give a clear view of the product inside with a clear label on the underside printed with the Maybelline Color Tattoo trade name. Easy to grab the right color from a drawer filled with makeup goodies!

The only real drawback to the packaging is the location of the product label - it's secured to the lid. This can lead to cross-matched lids on the wrong jar if you have multiples of these eyeshadows. I actually did this while swatching but since the names are color indicative it didn't take much to figure out which lid goes where. Not a total disaster but something to note.

I think the packaging is quite nifty for drugstore eyeshadows and does not scream cheap. The glass jar is a nice plus and they do match up well against the higher-end packaging.

The Maybelline Color Tattoo (BY EYESTUDIO) 24 hr Eyeshadows are touted as providing "24 hour wear without creasing or fading" They are also described as having "ink pigments for intense color" and

a "unique cream-gel texture".

The Maybelline Color Tattoo (BY EYESTUDIO) 24 hr Eyeshadows are creamy and smooth and glide unto the skin very well using a brush or your fingers. These eyeshadows are not as fast-drying as other versions on the market so they allow some time to move them around without tugging or dragging on the skin. The product itself is relatively firm within the jar but once they are applied they feel much softer. They are somewhat of a cream/gel consistency with a slight tacky feel to them. They are not as tacky as say NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils but they do not have as dry a consistency as MAC Paintpots.

The matte/cream shades are very smooth and silky while some of the shimmery shades do have a slight grit to them based on the infused shimmer. The shimmer is micro-fine rather than chunky so the texture won't be too rough on the skin.

The Maybelline Color Tattoo (BY EYESTUDIO) 24 hr Eyeshadows have a couple of finishes - matte/cream and frosts with infused shimmer. The frosts shades have varying levels of shimmer and even the size of the shimmer is different for each shade. Check the swatches for a better feel of the finishes.

These products have decent but not great color payoff and can be used sheer or layered for more intense pigmentation. They are not fully opaque in a single swipe but this is expected with cream eyeshadows (remember these are not gel/cream eyeliners). They stay true to the color in the jar and the bolder shades can be built up enough to create a soft eyeliner effect. But be sure that these do NOT have the color payoff of cream/gel eyeliners.

However, layering the frost/shimmery shades can lead to issues with flaking or cracking of the color on the lids. I have had this issue with the MUFE Aqua Creams as well so keep that in mind. Of course, you can avoid this by not caking on the product (too many layers) or waiting for the layers to dry completely before adding another.

There are 10 shades in total and the colors are a mix of neutrals and bold brights. I am sure a lot of people were hoping for more neutral/skintone shades since (I suppose) we are all in search of a cheaper alternative to MAC Painterly Paintpot or Stila Caramel Prime Pot. No such luck here...but what you will find are some quite surprising lovely bright colors with some shimmer.

There are pops of green, blue, purple and even the very unusual orange along with bronze, silver, burgundy and a shimmery white. Based on the excitement of the makeup community over these eyeshadows, if Maybelline is wise they will debut more colors in skintone and smokey shades to capture a wider audience.

These Maybelline Color Tattoo (BY EYESTUDIO) 24 hr Eyeshadows apply smoothly to the skin and blend easily with the skin and with other cream products. You can apply with a brush (synthetic is recommended) or by using your fingers. Again, they glide unto the skin without tugging or dragging BUT they take some work to get an even layer of pigmented color. Depending on the shade there can be some issues with skipping and patchy results. One good thing about these is that they are not drying so they won't tighten and hurt the sensitive lid area.

Hmmmm....here is where my opinion changes completely and goes against the the majority other reviews out there! I was not able to enjoy any of the claims made by Maybelline or the 'great' results experienced by others.

Creasing? YES. Fading? YES. Hot Mess? YES. I don't know why I seem to be among the very few that these didn't work for at all. I tried them without a primer first since they should be able to hold up without any assistance and I tried all the colors with the same results....creasing, melting, smudging mess!

Then I tried them with primer and while they didn't melt away and smudge everywhere, they still creased unforgivably. I wish I could say they only creased slightly so that I could get away with primer and powder and be set...but no such luck.

Next was the primer + Maybelline Color Tattoo (BY EYESTUDIO) 24 hr Eyeshadows + powder eyeshadow sandwich which fared a bit better than all the above. I had better wear but I still had some minimal creasing after about 4 hours of wear. For me these are like NYX Jumbo Pencils...pretty, creamy, pain to work with!

The Maybelline Color Tattoo (BY EYESTUDIO) 24 hr Eyeshadows have great potential. But all in all I am heartbroken with my bad luck. Not to worry though since there seems to be hope out there for others. A lot reviews claim long-lasting fabulous results so I wouldn't write these off because my oily lids rejected them. I'll still try to use them though because they are truly pretty and creamy little rascals. They are a GREAT bargain and if they work for you then grab them all! But maybe...test just one out first in case they don't like you as much as they don't like me.

50 Edgy Emerald
Shimmery emerald green. This applies somewhat sheerly and can get crepe-y when over-applied.

40 Tenacious Teal
Gorgeous blue with a slight teal tinge and silver shimmer. The shimmer is most present in this shade. Nice pigmentation but can get crepe-y when over-applied.

10 Fierce and Tangy
Did you ever expect such a color from Maybelline? NO! Anywho...it's a fierce light orange color with golden sheen. The shimmer is faint so it's almost a satin finish. Lovely.

35 Tough As Taupe
Matte/Cream grey-beige color. Very unique and one of my faves. More grey than nude as it looks in the pot. Would make a lovely soft smokey look.

20 Painted Purple
Patchy little beast. Medium toned purple with slight sheen. Does not apply well at all. Slides everywhere before settling into a patchwork baby.Not a good color to get (yes it's pretty).

05 Too Cool
Icy white. Perfect highlight color.

15 Audacious Asphalt
Medium silver with light silver shimmer.

The Kat Von D True Romance Palette: Mi Vida Loca is a brand-new limited edition palette priced at $34 for 8 x 0.05 oz of eyeshadow + 0.028 oz of eyeliner.

The older editions of the Kat Von D True Romance Palettes (such as Beethoven and Ludwig) cost $34 for 8 eyeshadows (same size) which I consider a great price for a good eyeshadow palette. The older edition versions have a different palette design and are missing the bonus eyeliner pencil - they have toss-away flimsy applicators instead.

On interesting thing to note is that this palette is $1 cheaper than the newer edition Kat Von D True Romance Palettes (such as Saint and Sinner) which have the same design and the bonus eyeliner pencil. Maybe it's a little perk because it's Limited Edition? Or maybe a marketing error? Who knows!

The Kat Von D True Romance Palettes are among the cheapest palettes in the mid-end cosmetics range plus you get more product in these palettes than higher priced ones.

The Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Palette is as usual a representation of the artistic side of Kat Von D that has been become a signature for her makeup packaging. The outer packaging is a black envelope style box with the palette name - Mi Vida Loca - in bright and colorful Kat Von D tattoo font. Inside the lining is a colorful gradient of pink, purple, blue and green.

The Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Palette itself is packaged in the new/revamped True Romance metallic tin palette style which now has a hinge and a manual release clasp. The palette is embossed with the palette name - Mi Vida Loca - in bright and colorful Kat Von D tattoo font.

Inside there is a full-sized mirror within the lid and the 8 rectangular eyeshadows are arranged below along with the bonus mini eyeliner pencil in its own little cutout slot. The cutout slot does not perfectly hold the pencil in place so beware of errant eyeliners jumping out of the palette (happened when I first jingled the palette around...LOL).

The metallic tin style palette lays flat when opened thanks to the spring hinge but does not fold under the palette. The manual release clasp consists of a little protruding metal tab that must be depressed (pushed-in) to release the internal clasp. My only fear with this packaging is that the moving parts (hinge and clasp) can get rusty, damaged or worn down and cause issues with keeping the palette securely closed or even just simply help together.

Another thing I noted was that one of my eyeshadow pans was a bit loose at the seams and I hope it doesn't pop out! Heaven forbid! But I can see this being an issue if I drop the palette or jostle it around haphazardly. I do feel that the palette is secure enough for light travel BUT I wouldn't subject it t any hardcore 'banging around' since I am concerned about breakage.

The eyeshadows in the Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Palette are true to the Kat Von D True Romance Eyeshadow formula - soft, creamy and nicely pigmented. All the eyeshadows are soft to the touch and apply smoothly over the skin without tugging or dragging.

There are a few matte shades in this palette that do come off a bit loose and powdery when they are picked up and applied. This is not too too much of a problem but there is more chance of fallout and loose powder floating around in a palette. The frost shades are smooth and creamy and have a high shine finish.

I have had great experience with he Kat Von D True Romance Eyeshadow formula. The pigmentation is decent in a single swipe and can be built up for greater intensity. They can also be sheered out as necessary for a wash of color. The pigmentation is nice without primer but definitely work better with a primer in place. These colors are not as intense and saturated as other True Romance palettes I have tried but are still have nice color payoff.

The colors are touted as '80's neon colors' but I wouldn't go so far as to say these are neon shades at all. They are bright colors but not quite as neon as one would anticipate from the description. The 80's definitely rings true though with the pink, purple, blue, green mix. The colors are not for the tame of heart and are actually quite a departure from the usual deep sultry smoky shades Kat Von D is known for. There isn't even a deep dark crease shade to be found here! The color descriptions on the Sephora website don't quite match up to the actual shades in the palette so I'll do my own swap and color breakdown in the swatches instead.

Swan Song is an iridescent pearl white shade with pink duochrome reflects. It comes off as a pale icy pink when layered and looks almost identical to Marya.

Marya soft pink pearl with a frost finish. Comes off as a frosty icy pink shade.

No Regrets is a medium pink shade with iridescent sheen.

Drama For Yo Momma is a medium purple with slight iridescent sheen.

Mad Max is a matte sky blue that borders on cyan blue.

Dublin is a shimmery kelly green with medium sheen.

Sparklehorse is a shimmery lgiht yellow gold with intense sheen.

Altruism is a light golden champagne shade with high sheen.

The eyeshadows apply smoothly to the skin with good color payoff. They will need some layering or added primer to get full color intensity but still work well without a primer/base. Again, some of the shades (Mad Max and Dublin in particular) have some powdery fallout issues. This means you can loose some color during blending and need to reapply, so be mindful of that. Overall they blend nicely and smoothly without much of an issue.

These wear well without fading except for a couple of the shades - Mad Max, Dublin, No Regrets - losing color intensity over time (5+ hours). The color fade is not very noticeable but should still be noted. I had great wear with these when used with a primer (8+ hours) without fading or creasing.

Next is the mini eyeliner pencil in Wonderchild which a a blue based purple with shimmer. It's is creamy and applies smoothly to the skin with nice pigmentation. It is also longwearing and lasts a full 8+ hours on the upper or lower lashline. I wouldn't recommend using this on the waterline though based on the shimmer particles and eyeball injuries and all.

The Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Palette is a nice deviation from the usual Kat Von D smoky, sultry palettes with it's bright vivid colors. It's definitely a fun palette although the color intensity is not as great as the other True Romance palettes. This palette will be a nice addition for a lover of bright colors but won't appeal very much to the neutral side of the market. It's worth a look if you love fun colors although I wouldn't say it's a must-have in my book.

'Midnight Blue' Look

Wow! It has been a while since I posted a look huh? When I test products out I can't be bothered to actually wear makeup during the day since I'm covered in it at night. So that's my excuse....lots of trials going on. I'm having a great 2012 so far and fingers crossed that it will just get better. My birthday is coming up (January 16th) so I'll be enjoying my loooong weekend. How are y'all doing?

Eyes:
PRIME:
I applied Urban Decay Primer Potion all over my lid up to the brow bone.

COLOR:
On the browbone area I applied MAC Wild By Nature Eyeshadow (matte camel) to help with blending. MAC 252 Large Shader Brush
For the entire lid I applied Stila Smudge Crayon in Midnight Blue (matte brilliant nay blue). Sonia Kashuk Large Crease Brush
For highlight under my brow I used Magnolia Makeup Double Rice Pigment (matte light yellow ivory). MAC 252 Large Shader Brush
On the lower lashline I applied MAC Minted Eye Kohl Pencil (mint green w/ pearl). Cozzette D200 Pencil Definer Brush

BROWS:
My brows are filled in with MAC Eyebrow Pencil in Stud and NARS Coconut Grove Eyeshadow (matte blackened brown). Paula Dorf Eye Definer Flat Top Brush

DEFINE:
I lined my lower waterline with L'Oreal HIP Cream Eyeliner in Black. Sigma Eye Liner - E05 Brush
I used Smashbox Lash DNA Mascara for my lashes and added MAC #34 Lashes for effect. Duo Lash Adhesive

For my lips I used MAC Brave New Bronze Lipstick (creamy nude) topped with MAC Lust Lipglass (creamy peach nude).

The Anastasia Beauty Express For Brows and Eyes is one of the highest priced eyebrow kits on the market even among mid-to-high-end brands. When you factor in the individual prices of a couple of the included products you may then see a justification of the prices. The 5 stencils set is priced at $20 while the half-sized brush costs $17. The brow powder duos are a whopping $22 each when sold individually. Considering these separate prices you can then see the overall kit is a good value given what is included.

I still think this kit is overpriced as well as the individual products themselves. There are many many cheaper alternatives on the market. However, bear in mind that lots of kits in the $25-$30 range only have a wax and brow powder and toss-away mini (almost micro) brushes. The Anastasia kit includes full sized brow powders, wax and highlight powders, 5 stencils and a half-sized brush which is actually quite functional. So for a bit more you can get additional items that are nice additions.

Personally, I am fully aware of how great brow products can change your makeup life so I don't mind spending a few extra $ on quality items that get the job done. The stencils in this kit can definitely be of great help for beginners or even someone in the midst of changing the shape of their brows. And the brow powder duos may come in handy for those of us with troublesome brow colors and tricky undertones. Anastasia certainly provides a greater shade range of cool, neutral and ash tones to balance out the overly warm tones from other brands. Some things to think about....

The Anastasia Beauty Express For Brows and Eyes are available in store at Sephora and Ulta locations as well as online at the Sephora and Ulta websites. This kit is also available on the Anastasia website. There are two shades available - Blonde and Brunette.

The Anastasia Beauty Express For Brows and Eyes comes in a textured burgundy palette with a magnetic clasp. Inside there is a nice sized mirror and instructions for use on the upper flap with the brow products (wax, brow powders, highlight shadows) below. There is also a cut-out for the 5 stencils and the half-sized angled brush.

I don't find the magnetic clasp strong enough to secure this kit during travel or for tossing into a handbag for daily touch-ups. I would have preferred a better means of holding the palette closed if it is meant to be portable as is claimed in the product details.

The Anastasia Beauty Express For Brows and Eyes comes with a light pink brow wax which goes on clear when applied. The wax has a smooth consistency which is not overly tacky or clumpy. This makes it easier to apply and spread evenly to the brows.

There are 2 brow powders included in the kit and will vary based on the kit - Blonde or Brunette. Both powders are a natural matte finish which will provide the most natural look when applied to the brows. There is a dark and a light color included which is great to mix for customized shades and also perfect for creating a gradient effect to the brows (rather than one flat color throughout). The powders are firm yet smooth without being powdery. This will ensure that they stick well to the brows without any loose powder fallout. These colors are neutral based with just the right touch of warmth and cool tones to work well with brunette hair colors. Most dark brow colors tend to run a bit too warm (red-based) and don't work well for everyone.

There are 2 highlight shadows also included which are both light peach shades. One is a shimmery finish while the other is natural matte. They are both smooth and creamy (creamier than the brow powders) and apply beautifully to the skin. The colors actually work well on my deeper skintone without being ashy which is a great plus! I think these colors will work well with a variety of skintones except perhaps deep dark skin.

The brow stencils are a signature Anastasia products and feature 5 classic brow shapes. If you have trouble figuring out the best brow shape for your face then these will be a great guideline for you. If you already have your shape down to a science then these won't really be of that much use to you.

The half-sized angled brush is a smaller version of an average sized brush. It has an average sized brush head but a shorter handle and works well for application and touch-ups. This is a great addition to the kit and beats out the other brands that provide you with mini (read unusable) brushes that are only okay in a pinch. The bristles are tightly packed and the brush is thin enough to give great control and definition but not so thin that all you can get are fine lines. Nice little brush!

The Anastasia Beauty Express For Brows and Eyes is a decent kit albeit a pricey one. I think the products included are good quality but may not be necessary for everyday wear. My recommendation would be to check out the individual brow powders if you have been searching for your perfect shade and haven't had much luck. Anastasia provides a great shade range in cool, ash, warm and neutral tones so you are sure to find your match. The brow stencils are handy for beginners and 'start-overs' but a brow novice may not find these necessary. The brush is nice but you will be able to find a better/cheaper alternative that suits you. I think this kit may be good for beginners but not a great investment for those of us that just need a brow powder. It's pricey so you can save save some $ by grabbing just the powder you need. While I wouldn't get the kit...I think there are some great products from Anastasia that are worth checking out (brow powders, tweezers)!

Initially the price of these eye color pencils may seem a bit daunting. However, when compared to other similar products you will find that they are priced within the expected range especially for Stila. In fact, it may even surprise you that they are a better value (price vs. oz) than the M·A·C Greasepaint Sticks that so many of us coveted.

Another thing you may find yourself doing is comparing these to non-twist-up pencils such as the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Shadow Pencils. But we must remember that non-twist-up pencils have issues with wasting product when they are sharpened - you lose almost half the product from sharpening alone. With twist-up pencils you won't lose as much product from sharpening if any at all (just don't sharpen). So you may be getting more product in a non-twist-up but that is overcompensating for the product loss during sharpening.

Another great thing about this product is that they are waterproof and smudge-proof and can be used as eyeshadow primer, eyeshadow and eyeliner. So keep that in mind when comparing them to drugstore alternatives, such as NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils, which are much cheaper but are not even close in terms of quality and longevity.

The Stila Smudge Crayons (Waterproof Eye Primer + Shadow + Liner) are available in store at Sephora and Ulta locations as well as online at the Sephora and Ulta websites. There are 8 colors to choose from ranging from neutral tones to pops of color. Ulta seems to have 1 extra shade (Rose) in their range versus Sephora so check Ulta if you want to see the full spectrum of colors. They are also now available on the Stila website.

The Stila Smudge Crayons come in color coordinated twist-up pencil form with an attached sharpener on the opposite end of the pencil. The product/color name, quantity and company details are printed in silver on the pencil itself. The matching package color makes it much easier to grab the correct one from a bulging stash.

The product/pencil is extended or retracted by twisting the head on the pencil rather than the base. You can always retract the product if you have overextend thus avoiding wastage. At the base of the pencil in the included sharpener which you twist off to use. The included sharpener is a bonus since you don't have to buy a separate item simply to sharpen your pencil plus you can use it to create a point to the pencil once the initial one wears down.

The cap on these pencils snap securely into place for perfect storage and travel without breaking the product or causing unwanted damage. The overall pencil is solid and sturdy which makes it more durable and less susceptible to breaking (heaven forbid!).

Sharpener

They are said to have a "creamy, multi-pearl formula infused with emollients for smooth, comfortable application and "provides rich, bold color and more than six hours of continuous wear that won't fade or crease over time".

The Stila Smudge Crayons are extremely creamy and smooth. They glide unto the skin without tugging or dragging for a even layer of pigmented color. These are not drying at all but set to a smudge-proof, budge-proof finish after application.

The Stila Smudge Crayons have a couple of finishes from matte to semi-matte with slight sheen and frosts. The deeper shades are more on the matte side while the lighter (highlight) shades have more of a frost finish which is expected.

These products are packed with intense color payoff. Even the lighter shades have decent color payoff in a single swipe. This makes them much nicer to use for liners than sheer products. The deeper shades have great pigmentation in a single pass while the lighter shades can be blended out for a wash of color if that is your preference.

The colors are more on the neutral side with subtle pops of color such as navy blue and purple. None of the shades are overwhelming or neon in nature. This means that they are quite wearable and will appeal to a large audience. The deeper shades are perfect for smoky looks while the lighter shades make great highlight colors.

These Stila Smudge Crayons are so smooth I almost want to cry! LOL! They apply smoothly to the skin and blend seamlessly with each other and other eyeshadows. You can apply directly from the pencil or use your fingers or a brush instead. I prefer the ease of the pencil but you may wish to create more defined lines with a brush. Again, they glide unto the skin without tugging or dragging (ahem Shadesticks) for a even layer of pigmented color. These are not drying at all but set to a smudge-proof, budge-proof finish after application.

These work great as eyeshadow colors on their own, as colored bases for powder eyeshadow or as eyeliners. They wear perfectly well without a primer without fading or creasing. I find it interesting that Stila only claims 6+ hours of wear while these are long-wearing at least on me. I get at least 9+ hours of wear with no issues plus I can skip the primer and powder (oily lids rejoice). They also wear decently on the waterline (4+ hours) but fade over time as is usual with creamy products on my waterline. You may have better luck but so far only my L'Oréal HIP Cream Liner works on my waterline.Either way these are phenomenal!

The Stila Smudge Crayons (Waterproof Eye Primer + Shadow + Liner) are superb products! I am just in love! They have the creaminess of NYX Jumbo Pencils with the color payoff and longevity of gel eyeliners. These are what M·A·C Shadesticks and Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Pencils should aspire to be - great products YES but a little drying. The Stila Smudge Crayons are creamy and dreamy beyond belief with full rich color and longstanding wear to top it all off. I insist you bite the $22 bullet and try out at least one of these! You WON'T be disappointed!

The L'Oréal Paris Infallible Eye Shadows are priced at $7.99 for 0.12 oz of product. Since L'Oréal Paris is considered a drugstore/low-end makeup brand you are sure to be able to grab these on sale (hello buy 1, get 1) or at discounted prices.

These eyeshadows are within the usual range of drugstore brand eyeshadows with a solid amount of product. These eyeshadows contain at least twice the amount of product as the average mid-to-high-end brand eyeshadow. At these prices, and with the amount of product these eyeshadows contain, I say these are definitely worth a look.

The L'Oréal Paris Infallible Eye Shadows are available at drugstores and various retail stores within the US. You can find these at Ulta stores, on the Ulta website, Harmons, Target, Walmart, Walgreens, etc.

The L'Oréal Paris Infallible Eye Shadows are packaged in clear square shaped plastic jars with a circular opening and screw-top silver lids. The name and number of the eyeshadow is printed on a similar colored label, which is secured to the lid of the jars, along with the product amount and company information. The underside of each jar is see-through to give a clear view of the product inside (surrounded by the L'Oréal Paris logo).

Inside the jar is small handled insert (almost identical to the Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Intense Eyeshadows) that is used to press and secure the product in place.

The only drawback of the packaging is that it is plastic. Glass containers work best for extending the shelf life of creamy products and helps to retain the moisture longer. Although these eyeshadows are not creams they still have a certain level of moisture that can dry out and change the consistency of the eyeshadows over time. However, since the packaging can be tightly sealed, there shouldn't be issues with premature drying-out of these products.

I think the packaging is quite nifty for drugstore eyeshadows and does not scream cheap at all! There are nice esthetic details that make the jars seem a bit luxurious compared to run-of-the-mill drugstore quality packaging.

These eyeshadows are very similar to the Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Intense Eyeshadows. It is not a cream product nor is it powder but rather a mousse-like pressed pigment with a half powder/half cream consistency. The eyeshadows have a very soft creamy texture that holds together like a cream product but still picks up on a brush in a loose (clumped but not chunky) powder form. It reminds me of chunky moist pigments in the texture but the product is much smoother and the application is much easier.

The eyeshadows have a couple of finishes - semi-mattes/satin and frosts. The level of frost varies based on the color and can go from high-shine metallic frosts to subtle shimmery sheens. Of course my favorites are the semi-mattes/satins. The semi-mattes/satins are a great alternative to the frost finishes that prevails in the Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Intense Eyeshadows.

Of all the colors I picked up all but one have great color payoff and lovely pigmentation. You are able to get decent color payoff in a single swipe which can be built-up by packing on more product.

The colors are not as complex and unique as the Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Intense Eyeshadows at all. The Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Intense Eyeshadows are great multi-dimensional mosaic eyeshadows which varying colors melded into one. The L'Oréal Paris Infallible Eye Shadows are more one-dimensional in that it's one color throughout the product rather than a blend. This in itself is not a bad thing but a definite item of note if we compare these to their high-end counterparts.

There are also a variety of colors to choose from in this range - golds, champagnes, green, blue, purple, black, browns, bronze, pinks. This means that there will be something here for everyone to choose from. There are great neutral colors and vivid bright colors for any beauty lover.

Plus these are NOT all high frost finishes which is great! This offers us more options and will work for a wider range of skintones, skin types and overall personal preferences.

There is minimal fallout from these eyeshadows when the color is pressed onto the skin using your fingers or a dense eyeshadow brush. There will be some minor fallout issues when used with a fluffy brush as this will loosen up the product. The eyeshadow apply smoothly to the skin and blend seamlessly with each other and other eyeshadows.

They wear very well without a primer without fading or creasing (at least 6+ hours). I find that over time without a primer, thanks to my oily lids, these will show slight creasing along the lines of my eyes. However, the wear is improved greatly with a primer/base (9+ hours). I didn't test the 24 hour wear claim simply because that would mean sleeping in my makeup or laying around like a well made-up zombie. But I will say that I did get a full 12 hours out of these without any signs of fading.

The L'Oréal Paris Infallible Eye Shadows are great drugstore/cheaper alternatives to the highly coveted Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Intense Eyeshadows. While they are not as gorgeous or complex as the high-end opponent they are still great products on their own. They one-up Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Intense Eyeshadows since they are NOT all high frost finishes! This offers us more options and will work for a wider range of skintones, skin types and overall personal preferences. I really enjoy the texture and finish of these eyeshadows and there are some gorgeous shades to choose from. I definitely recommend these without any hesitation!

Hey hey hey! As requested I did a look with one of the MAC Metal-X Cream Shadows and even squeezed in a tutorial. It's a simple and quick look....with no creasing : )

Eyes:
PRIME:
I applied MAC Layin Low Paintpot (creamy beige) all over my lid up to the brow bone as my primary base - Real Techniques Deluxe Crease Brush.

COLOR:
On the browbone area I applied Smashbox Nude Eyeshadow (matte nude) to help with blending. MAC 252 Large Shader Brush
For the outer lid I used Rock & Republic Fatalistic Eyeshadow (matte black). Sigma E70 Medium Angled Shading Brush
On the lid I applied MAC Venetian Tarnish Metal-X Cream Shadow (golden tarnished bronze). MAC 242 Small Shader Brush
Then on the lid I applied MAC Golden Gaze Mineralize Eye Shadow (shimmery blackened gold). MAC 239 Eye Shader Brush
On the lower lashline I applied Too Faced Perfect Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil in Perfect Black (matte black). Royal & Langnickel Smudger C422-S Brush

BROWS:
My brows are filled in with MAC Eyebrow Pencil in Stud and NARS Coconut Grove Eyeshadow (matte blackened brown). Paula Dorf Eye Definer Flat Top Brush

DEFINE:
I lined my upper lashline with Benefit Babe Cake Eyeliner (matte black) . MAC 263 Small Angle Brush
I lined my lower waterline with L'Oreal HIP Cream Eyeliner in Black. Sigma Eye Liner - E05 Brush
I used Smashbox Lash DNA Mascara for my lashes.

Lips:
POLISH:
For my lips I used MAC Pillow Talk Lipstick (creamy nude) topped with MAC Frankly Fresh Lipglass (creamy peach nude).

Face:
FINISH:
I primed my skin with Boscia Revitalizing Black Hydration Gel - hands. I used Chanel Perfection Lumière Long-Wear Flawless Fluid Makeup in 54 Beige Ambré - Sigma Flat Top Synthetic Kabuki Brush - for my face and set my t-zone with MAC Studio Careblend/Pressed Powder in Dark - face puff.

I used MUFE #12 Full Cover Concealer - Cozzette P350 Cylinder Concealer Brush - under my eyes set with MAC Studio Careblend/Pressed Powder in Medium Deep - face puff.

I used MUFE #8 PDA HD Microfinish Blush (creamy pinky nude) for my cheeks - MAC 128 Split Fibre Cheek Brush and MUFE #1 Sculpting Kit for contour - Sigma Angled Kabuki Brush.

I have already done an few Overall Reviews of these pigments in depth HERE and HERE and even HERE! So nice I did it THRICE!

So this post will just feature swatches and thoughts of some new colors I bought during the holiday sale they had.

Fleur de Fab

Very unique and intriguing color. It has a matte true blue base color with shimmery copper gold accents. It's not a duochrome but rather somewhat of a blend - like 2 separate colors melded into one. The more you blend the more copper gold shows through.

Sour Apple

Bright green tinged matte yellow. Vivid color payoff and creamy texture. The results are almost neon with this shade. Love!

Topaz

Oh! Intense turquoise blue with glorious sheen. I think of the tropical beaches when I see this color and it is fabulous! Great color payoff and smooth texture.

024 Chartreuse Anyone

I see this as more of a kelly green than true chartreuse but it is gorg none-the-less. Smooth with great color payoff and a hint of sheen.

302 Ella

Beautiful orange-y gold with golden sheen. Richly pigmented and buttery smooth.

Blood Orange

Insanely pigmented matte red orange. Great orange shade with prominent red hue. It is a matte finish so it's slightly powdery...but it is a loose pigment so this is expected. No issues with this being chalky.

Galaxy

Shimmery black with silver sparkle. Gorgeous color and fitting name - it's like a night sky filled with millions of stars. Slight fallout issues with the sparkles but with a good primer or used wet it is minimal.

The Kat Von D: Tattoo Chronicles Candelabra Edition is now priced at $32 for 0.85 oz (16 x 0.053 oz) of Eyeshadow and 0.47 oz of Mascara. The usual Kat Von D True Romance Palettes cost $35 for 8 eyeshadows (actually smaller individual sizes) which I consider a great price for a good eyeshadow palette. This palette is even cheaper by $3 with lots more product (50% more).

You also get a full sized mascara which is sold separately for $18. So if you factor in the mascara, you are only paying $14 for the eyeshadows themselves. The Kat Von D Palettes are already among the cheapest palettes in the mid-end cosmetics range so this palette is a great bargain!

The Kat Von D: Tattoo Chronicles Candelabra Edition is currently available at Sephora stores at the original price of $49 (boooo) and on the Sephora website at the sale price of $32 while quantities last. This palette is Limited Edition so grab it now if interested!

The Kat Von D: Tattoo Chronicles Candelabra Edition comes similarly packaged as previously reviewed Kat Von D Tattoo Chronicles Palette. The package emulates a hardcover book. It's a black and metallic red velvet covered book design which opens up to a few pages with writings from Kat Von D herself and, of course, the eyeshadows and mascara. There is also a large sized mirror within the palette on the opposite side of the eyeshadows.

The palette is not as bulky as the previous Tattoo Chronicles palette which is a definite plus. It is sleeker in design and more elegant with a velvet cover rather than cardboard. However, is still not a streamlined, space-saving palette but the details and presentation make it a great collector's item. Fantastic, durable and sturdy (albeit a bit bulky) packaging not to mention BEAUTIFUL!

There are 16 eyeshadows inside which are organized into four color-themed groups of four. Each grouping contains a perfect combination of lid, highlight and crease colors that can be mixed together for a coordinated look or combined with the other palette shades for your own customized look. The mascara itself is full-sized and housed in its own little cutout in the palette.

The mascara comes in a silver and black tube with the signature Kat Von D tattoo rose designs embossed on the tube. The brush is quite large with full bristles that are medium in length and taper at the end.

The Kat Von D: Tattoo Chronicles Candelabra Edition features Kat Von D's signature True Romance Eyeshadow formula which is claimed to be 'Formulated with rich pigments and hydrating ingredients, each shadow adds deep color that will make eyes pop while imparting moisture to the skin.' The Sin-Full Lash mascara 'lets you turn up your eyelash volume by curling, lengthening, and thickening each strand. Its thick bristle brush coats individual lashes with a true black pigment formulation to create an intense depth and a bold stare.'

These eyeshadows are true to the Kat Von D True Romance Eyeshadow formula - soft, creamy and nicely pigmented. There are a few of the eyeshadows that are infused with micro-fine which does lead to some fallout but they do not have the chunky effect of large sized glitter or shimmer. The eyeshadows are velvety without being powdery or too loose and apply nicely to the skin.

The eyeshadows have an assortment of finishes including mattes, mattes w/ micro-fine glitter, satins and frosts.

The matte shades are are highly pigmented except for the light link shade, Camila which barely shows up on my skintone. The frost finishes are also nicely pigmented with a gorgeous frosty sheen. The mattes w/ micro-fine glitter are gorgeous but there is some issue with fallout as is usually the case with glitter infused eyeshadows. The color intensity of the eyeshadows can be built up for greater intensity or used wet to secure the glitter particles. Some of the lighter shades are not as vivid on darker skin and will need a good base/primer and 'packing on' to improve the color payoff.

There is minimal fallout from these eyeshadows overall with the glitter eyeshadows having the only issues. There will be more fallout issues when used with a fluffy brush as this will loosen up the product. The eyeshadow apply smoothly to the skin and blend seamlessly with each other and other eyeshadows.

They wear very well without a primer without fading or creasing (at least 6+ hours) but the wear is improved greatly with a primer/base (9+ hours).

The mascara is the next to tackle. The brush is quite large which may be a issue for those of us with smaller eyes. The formula is richly black and relatively thick. It coats well and creates a deep black look to the lashes. It is meant to be curling, lengthening, and thickening. The formula does allow for some lengthening and thickening but I didn't experience any dramatic effects. The mascara also causes a fair amount of clumping to the lashes which is a bother to separate and can lead to flaking a few hours into wear. It does leave the lashes feeling soft rather than crunchy which is a plus but it's not my favorite mascara at all. Another drawback was the smell....I'm not sure if this was an old set or something but it smells awful - somewhat like wet cement. Ick!

The Kat Von D: Tattoo Chronicles Candelabra Edition is a nice collector's item. I wasn't as impressed with this palette as I have been with other Kat Von D Palettes which I blame on the colors and how they work with my skintone. They are smooth, creamy and nicely pigmented but not the best I have seen from Kat Von D. The mascara also leaves a lot to be desired just on smell alone but then toss in some clumps for good measure. If you are an avid Kat Von D collector then this is a nice addition but if you are a regular consumer I would say explore other Kat Von D palettes which are in my opinion much nicer. I don't dislike the palette at all - there are a few of the colors that I adore - but I have seen better especially from Kat Von D! Not a must see but a nice enough to have.

Sunset Blvd did not have the best color payoff.

Camila (pale matte pink) -- Galeano (frosty light mauve) -- Blackhearts (deep burgundy w/ gold flecks) -- WTF (frosty red)

Camila had poor color payoff and was a bit chalky.

Holy Bible (icy aqua silver) -- Speed Blue (frosty deep blue) -- Oddfellow (matte black w/ green, teal, blue glitter) -- Blacksmith (matte black w/ silver glitter)
The glitter in Oddfellow and Blacksmith will cause some fallout issues

Helsinki (chunky light gold) -- Evil Monkey (satin brown w/ green sheen) -- Nerd (frosty green) -- Night of the Hunter (gorgeous deep forest green)

Helsinki was hell - chunky texture and bad fallout. Night of the Hunter is my favorite color in the palette!

The Sephora Collection Prisma Chrome Eyeshadows are priced at $15 for 0.12 oz of product.The price may surprise you since these are from the Sephora Collection and are on the lower side of mid-end brands. Even compared to regular Sephora Collection eyeshadows these are more expensive. But when in doubt always do a size comparison - these are large sized eyeshadows with more product than the average sized eyeshadows on the market. The average eyeshadow comes in at about 0.05 oz while these eyeshadows are more than double the size at 0.12 oz.

The price may sound a bit steep for store brand eyeshadows but based on the amount of product and the good quality, I think they are worth the price.

The Sephora Collection Prisma Chrome Eyeshadows are currently available at Sephora stores and on the Sephora website for a Limited time only. There are ten (10) shades available in bright vivid colors as well as neutral tones.

The Sephora Collection Prisma Chrome Eyeshadows are housed in black snap-lid individual hinged square pots. The Sephora name is printed in silver on the front of the eyeshadow pot while the product details (name, size, ingredients, etc.) is printed on a label on the back.

The packaging is missing that handy-dandy clear (see-through) window that shows the product inside so it becomes a bit tedious when trying to figure out what color you are picking out - both in store and from your own collection.

Inside the magic happens! The square pots sport a full sized mirror on the inside lid. The eyeshadow itself has a raised wavy seashell design quite fitting for the "new wave in eye shadow". Since the eyeshadow is raised from the pot it is contained in, it is quite possible to break or damage the eyeshadow if too much pressure is applied while picking up the product or simply by accident.

The packaging is provided with a tamper-proof black seal at the side to prevent or at least indicate contamination. I note this nice plus since we should all be weary of products that are easily opened and touched by other consumers - no one wants a 'pre-fondled' product after all. Another thing to note is that this tape blends in with the black pot and tricked me! I fought valiantly trying to open the pots before realizing that the tape was holding it in place! Silly me...I share my embarrassment to warn others who may fall silly victims to this trickery! Hahahahaa : )

The Sephora Collection Prisma Chrome Eyeshadows are touted as 'luminous eye shadows that deliver prismatic shine, lush texture, and lavish color payoff'. Sephora states that 'Prisma Chrome brings together the best features of baked, powder, and cream shadows. Its revolutionary effect captures light perfectly, delivering a prismatic effect with an unbelievably smooth and true color finish.'

These eyeshadows are indeed soft and creamy and apply smoothly to the skin. The texture is refined and silky and feels somewhat like a cream-blend powder. The eyeshadows do loosen similar to a powder eyeshadow but also feel buttery smooth and hold together like a cream eyeshadow. I totally agree that the formula merges the benefits of baked, powder and cream shadows without the drawbacks. They are soft but not powdery, creamy but not overly moist and can be used both wet or dry with rich color payoff. These are smooth without the chunky effect of glitter or large-sized shimmer.

The finish is a high shine metallic sheen that is only slightly more pronounced when used wet. This is a definite plus since there is really no need to use these wet to get the full metallic shiny effect as with other baked eyeshadows. The metallic sheen is more apparent in a few shades than others but all the shades have a high shine frost to metallic appearance.

The colors are decently pigmented and stay true to the color seen in the pot. These are not very sheer and not for the tame of heart. The color have rich color payoff in one swipe and can be built up for greater intensity. However, the lighter shades can be sheered out enough to create a beautiful highlight effect on the face.

There is minimal to no fallout from these eyeshadows when used with a dense brush or fingers. There can be some fallout issues when used with a fluffy brush as this will loosen up the product. The eyeshadow apply smoothly to the skin just as a cream shadow would and blend seamlessly with each other and other eyeshadows.

They wear very well without a primer without fading or creasing (at least 5 hours) but the wear is improved greatly with a primer/base (8+ hours).

The Sephora Collection Prisma Chrome Eyeshadows are fantastic eyeshadows! They are smooth, creamy and highly pigmented with a beautiful high shine metallic finish. They can be used both on the eyes or on the face for the perfect highlighting effect. The price may seem a bit much at first for store brand eyeshadows but the amount of product in addition to quality is definitely worth the price! If you have been searching for metallic eyeshadows then these are right up your alley. I highly recommend these!
